Being in tech and having a single modicum of critical thinking is just screaming "this isn't what LLMs are designed for" over and over as people shove a bunch of word predictors into critical decision making processes because some glorified used car salesmen told them it would fix all their problems
Reporter: The FDA has a new AI tool that's intended to speed up drug approvals. But several FDA employees say the new AI helper is making up studies that do not exist. One FDA employee telling us, 'Anything that you don't have time to double check is unreliable. It hallucinates confidently'

I have one, and only need the one, reason to absolutely loathe Josh Kraft for Boston:

We don’t need more silver spoon fed rich assholes leading us. He has no idea what it’s like for regular people.
Journalist @gintautasd.bsky.social confirms what I heard the Mayor say a few weeks ago: The Kraft people are paying businesses to put his campaign signs in their shop windows. Absolutely pathetic loser shit.

It's very bad that the son of a billionaire running a campaign funded by tons of money coming from outside Boston is being so secretive about his finances.

However, you can look at the contributions to his PAC to get an idea of who's influencing his policies. A small thread of stories below.
Donald Trump has proven that politicians today can get away with ignoring basic transparency & avoid accountability on personal financial interests, conflicts & entanglements. I’ve been disclosing financials since before Trump & still believe in good government. Here’s why it matters in this race:🧵
Josh Kraft has yet to disclose his 2024 tax return — in fact, he's filing late
In May, the Kraft campaign said it would release his tax returns “in the near future.” But now the campaign says the candidate had asked the IRS for a six-month filing extension.

As a long-term MAGA person I can excuse narcissism, mediocrity, childishness, dishonesty, racism, sexism, lawbreaking, dementia, incoherence, and blatant hostility to the constitution and American values, but I draw the line when I decide to stop ignoring that he’s also always clearly been a pedo

In a normal world all these guys would be fired and prosecuted for assault.

F12.
Prosecutors will not bring criminal charges against sheriff’s officers who wrestled a Black man out of a car during a traffic stop and punched him multiple times, the local sheriff said Monday.
No charges for Jacksonville officers who punched Black man during arrest
William Anthony McNeil Jr. questioned why he was pulled over and refused to get out of the car. An officer smashed his window and punched him in the face, video shows.

my favorite aspect of the Democratic Party is that, no matter how genuine and helpful you may be, there are a thousand voices ready to tear you down for some other perceived slight.

Nobody is good enough for many of the supporters.

Quality of life for everyone is why we need universal basic income. When the lives of the poorest are improved, everyone's quality of life improves.

Just had a great gameshow idea. We find 20 of the worst people imaginable and give them all free airtime. Then we add 1 person with different views and call it a debate. Afterwards the terrible people can use the attention to grift idiots for donations. I think this would massively benefit society.

A good way to think about the housing crisis is landlords pocketing essentially all the consumer surplus the last 40 years
Between 1980 and 2024 the basket of 50 basic commodities become cheaper and more abundant. To be precise 70 per cent cheaper and 238 per cent more abundant. If we hadn’t messed up housing costs we’d be collectively very well off. Source: buff.ly/U8lZZkc

By 2029 the GOP may have entrenched their coup by "legal" methods

Gerrymandering-permitted by MAGA judges

Changes in citizenship laws and deportations

Quashing dissent by jailing protesters

And radical "interpretation" of the Constitution

We still don't fully comprehend the danger America faces
"Unlike January 2021 — when the Big Lie scheme failed — by 2029 Trump and his cohorts will have new tools to carry out a coup, including a massive federal police force with a proven willingness to engage in systemic illegality at Trump's behest."
The emerging coup

When, one year ago, a buggy update to software sold by the cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike took down millions of computers around the world and sent them into a death spiral of repeated reboots, the global cost of all those crashed machines was equivalent to one of the worst cyberattacks in history.
At Least 750 US Hospitals Faced Disruptions During Last Year’s CrowdStrike Outage, Study Finds
Of those, more than 200 appear to have had outages of services related to patient care following CrowdStrike’s disastrous crash, researchers have revealed.

y’all if you can’t see the lines being drawn throughout the courts right now straight towards a centralized fascist regime…

i just can’t help you understand it anymore.
8th Cir. holds, 2-1, that a federal prosecution for arson is constitutional under the spending clause as applied to a man who Molotoved three state-owned police cars.

Held: it's enough that the feds gave around 4% of the police budget and money is fungible.
