DOGE was not a money-saving effort. It was an effort to chase down and prove right-wing conspiracy theories. They went after USAID to prove conspiracy theories about foreign aid. Then they went after SSA to, again, pursue conspiracy theories about Dems paying "illegals" to vote. 1/2
All DOGE accomplished was purging critical government staff, handing private data to outsiders, and sentencing thousands in developing countries to death by gutting USAID.

Speaking as someone with a degree in English and psychology, who still got suckered in a scam, your greatest defense against the siren call of neediness is not intelligence, but humility. You have to be honest about your weakness - repeatedly - or you will rationalize your way into a snake pit.

We finally have jobs numbers out this morning from September and take a look at this: big jump again in Black women's unemployment, now 7.5% from 6.7% in August.

Governments the world over are pledging to do everything possible to address housing crises, as long as it doesn't involve being accountable for actually building any housing.
the government scrapping annual housing targets and instead setting a five-year target that conveniently isn't until after the next general election so in four years time they can be like "we might make it to 300,000, but only if you reelect us!"
