Lino Print of the Week 🌾

No Black Friday deals here!

Just me, some ink, and a roller. No flash sales, no countdown timers, just slow art, made the slow way.

If you can, please sprinkle a bit of your spend towards small businesses and creatives.

It honestly makes such a difference.

Thank you x

Whenever I watch an episode of Downton Abbey, I end up talking like Lady Mary Crawley for at least half an hour afterwards.

I think it’s because I have a non-accent, I just pick other people’s up easily.

Need a new hobby - something away from screens and nothing to do with words. So have taken inspiration from the likes of @morrighani.bsky.social and @sundownerstudio.bsky.social and decided I’ll give linocut a try.

Got a starter kit for my bday today.

She’s been on safari, and now her and her best friend, trained from Nairobi to Mombasa on their own (god knows how they got there on schedule).

She’s in her 80s but definitely living her best life 🍸

Importantly, I have secured a bag of the prawn and melted cheese crisps for degustation.

I didn’t buy the massive bag of Netflix-sponsored garlic popcorn, but was sorely tempted.

I make a monthly donation to this organisation (not as much as I’d like sadly), because books were my solace, escape and refuge during difficult circumstances in my youth. If you can throw a few quid their way each month, it really does help many children find comfort. 📚
My little girls (now big girls!), adopted from foster care, arrived with few possessions - but each had been given a box of books by @booktrust.org.uk. These books, read together, became our first shared memories.
Spread the joy of reading with a donation:

Let's see if the internet (and Bluesky in particular) can help solve this mystery.

Who can help Ben find "Linda" who appears to be from the UK but traveled to Moscow in 1984 and wrote (but did not send?) this postcard?
Ok Bluesky, let’s give this a go: I found this postcard in the back of a photo frame I bought at a London thrift shop.

It’s an unsent postcard from a woman called Linda to her parents. The front shows the Kremlin in Moscow and the stamp says 1984 (!).

I’d love to return it to Linda - can you help?

The start of my lazy home began with prep for lunch.

A salad of pomelo, rocket, griddled asparagus, tenderstem broccoli, orange pepper, carrot, coriander, and toasted coconut, with a soy sauce, garlic, ginger, honey, dried lime powder dressing.

Phew. It was a long prep, but so worth it.

It’s the last day of my 2 weeks off. No plans.

I did book to see Operation Mincemeat at the local theatre, but realised it was for this time next year after I booked 🫠

What to do for the day… 🧐

This is Cole. He is a deaf service dog at Dr. William Mennies Elementary School. He just turned 9, and all of his students learned sign language to sing him happy birthday at a massive party. 14/10 for all (IG: colethedeafdog)

Have some friends coming over for an afternoon tipple later. Made some spicy potato pinwheels, which are always my go to nibble of choice.

It’s grey and wet, but what a lovely sky colour. A slither of pinky yellow morning light.

My mum is flying to Nairobi this morning, and I asked her last night if her alarm is on as a taxi was collecting her at 4am to get to Heathrow.

She said no, she’ll just naturally wake up. 😵‍💫

So I’ve been awake all night stressing about it 😅

Just unpacking, and a massive bug ran out the suitcase. No idea where it is, and I’m looking for new houses on Rightmove.
