Even now, I hold to the notion that to be Canadian is to be peaceful, compassionate, and believe good governance is possible.

My favourite lines…

On exploring and better connecting with the city: “It’s like London was invisible to me until just this past year.”

On getting healthier, especially mentally healthier: “I’m not adding anything into my schedule. This is just a way of getting around!”
WATCH & SHARE: This is very good. A prominent youtuber is actually giddy (but also very thorough in covering the joys, advantages, issues and challenges) about how trying biking for transportation in London has changed his life.

Easy to watch & more convincing probably than 99% of public campaigns.

“It’s every light & every corner & every time a car almost turns into you — it’s really scary & it’s just time to consider something a little bit radical to save people from getting hurt … It shouldn’t take another fatality to motivate change.”

It’s not radical at all. It’s actually common sense.

Lil story. When I first moved to the US I thought, red-light right turn is neat. But I didn’t live in a walkable or bike friendly area so it was neat. I now live in a fully walkable and bicycle friendly town & it’s scary when a car turns while your crosswalk is green.

Boston ban right on red already. You're either a city for people or a city for cars #BanRightOnRed

The cost of just one of the new highway overpasses exceeds everything ever spent on bike lanes in Victoria.

“When mayors in other cities ask me how #Copenhagen afforded to invest in its cycling networks, I ask them how on earth they have been able to afford highway projects. We invested in bike lanes because that was the cheapest option.”

Close to two-thirds of the city’s residents commute by bike to school or work every day.

Heard from a colleague spending a few months in the Netherlands.

"Went on a 35-mile bike ride today, entirely on bike paths, through all kinds of landscapes. Turns out I love biking, I'm just scared of biking with cars."

Wait till you hear about cars.

Not to mention the entire show has crazy dialogue and humour (great clips on YouTube).
IMPORTANT: If you can watch only ONE video about why more & wider roads won’t solve traffic congestion no matter how many billions you spend, watch THIS one. Then share it with EVERYONE.

Auto-makers are asking Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to cancel the “EV Mandate” for electric vehicles.

I don’t support that, since we’ve built a LOT of car dependency, and definitely need less damaging (and fewer) cars.

But in truth, what we could really use is an “electric bike mandate.”
