Never trust dudes (and it’s always dudes) with great university degrees, telling you not to go to university
If activists push a position that has limited public support and violates the law, we shouldn’t be surprised when society slaps back hard, and in fact way harder than it should. Bad activism leads to bad results.

I think that's the biggest lesson I've had from the Social Media Commentariat Politician Journalist Era ... huge numbers of people in British public life are in fact Galaxy Class, three-masted-under-full-sail oceangoing morons.

These are HEPI estimates of the 20 institutions affected: I think this illustrates the impact if the tariff is absorbed in full by institutions.
What share of the 6% tariff different universities may try to pass on to fees - or the impact might be on demand if they did - is not publicly known.

I struggle to understand how this government cannot see how counterproductive this is, beyond the continued lack of ambition and serious pre-election planning to fix a sector hobbled by a broken funding model AND being an easy (and often misconstrued) political punching bag in the immigration debate

It is perfectly plausible that the UK is better at integrating immigrants than other European countries, however, comparing PISA scores is not evidence that can be used in support of this. You must control for potential confounds such as language, education level of parents, social class etc etc
