I ponder on many things, much hurts my heart. A hurt that weighs heavy is injustice, which is so blatant throughout our world. In particular how women are being treated in Afghanistan. My view is that religion/faith is not truly the cause, it's the excuse/screen ... love of power is the real evil.

I wonder what it was like attending school at this little one-room schoolhouse in southwestern North Dakota. I found some info that suggests this school was built around 1910.

A small one-room schoolhouse on the plains. The school is viewed from the rear corner of the school. A brick chimney is still standing but is separated from the building, leaning slightly away from the building. There are six windows on the side of the school. Some of the windows are broken. The door in the entryway is closed but the window there is broken. A flagpole extends above the building. The roof is mostly intact, covered in wooden shake shingles, with only a few small holes. Surrounding the building are dried brown and gold prairie grass. Further behind the school is the stubble of a harvested wheat field covering rolling hills. Further behind is a grass-covered hill. The sky above is filled with clouds that appear blue and gray.

I had this beautiful Polynesian Punch rose for just a couple of yrs. It struggled in our garden last yr so I dug it out and amended the soil but forgot to plant it back in August. These days I just want hassle free plants.

#ourworldiswonderful; I leave you today with a couple of shots from our morning walk. The deer, part of a herd of about 30 that ran across the track in front of us, were a real bonus. The other shot is from further down the track as it leads from Brierly towards Cinderford in the Forest of Dean.

#ourworldiswonderful; I finish for tonight with this shot taken a few days ago in the Forest of Dean, England. Today was dull and grey, so a fairly brief (2 miles) wander under the drizzle but no pics. Tomorrow promises more photogenic weather. Fingers crossed!
Tall, mature hardwood trees stand at the left edge, their bare branches now sporting only a few autumn leaves. The ground beneath is carpeted with the fallen leaves and the track passing the trees descends through more trees showing only a little of their autumn colours now.

#ourworldiswonderful; I leave you tonight with a shot of a beck in North Yorkshire that eventually feeds a small waterfall called Janet's Foss, a very atmospheric place that my wife always finds calming and welcoming.
A lively beck runs from the distant left of the shot to the near right, where it leaves the picture amongst rocks. The stream runs through a green field bordered by a drystone wall at the top left of the picture and trees grow behind this and along the distant horizon.
