Lots of new followers, so I figured it’s a good time to do an introduction. Hello! I’m Mike. I’m a North Dakota-based computer security professional with a passion for the outdoors and a love of photography. I don’t really have a style. I love to shoot all kinds of things.
Thank you, Helen! It was a bit of a happy accident. I wasn’t sure out birding, so I had my 180-600 on. I don’t think I’ve ever shot a butterfly at 600mm before!
He’s such a great kitty and has a wonderful, fun personality. He’s always making me laugh with his antics.
Thank you, Simon! Have a splendid Saturday.

Here are a couple of #Black oystercatchers for the #BirdOfTheDay theme. 🪶
Fabulous, Rhonda! I hope I get a chance to photograph oystercatchers some day.
Thank you, Rob! Thanks for the theme.
I need to get out to the Badlands here in North Dakota again sometime soon. Like you said, just a wealth of texture.

Gorgeous photo, Alex! I wish I got to see them up close more regularly. I see them a lot, but they always seem to be one of the first to flush.

Cooler weather means duck season is back! Featured here, an elegant Northern Pintail.

Thought I'd combine the #BirdOfTheDay with the #BlueSkyArtShow today with this red-winged blackbird hanging out in the #vertical reeds.

There's a group of these in our botanical gardens and I love to take photos of them.

Can't help but notice they are quite rude to others. 😀

Lovely shot, Kevin. They can be quite territorial, but I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for these birds. I got to photograph a nesting pair several times this summer. Definitely one of the highlights.
Thanks, Brian! I'm lucky to have a very photogenic cat.
You have so many wonderful wave photos, Sophie. This one is excellent!

I have a few favourite wave photos, taken over the years at a few beaches in #Iceland, and this is one of them, from this day in 2021. Slowing down the exposure (this is 0.3 sec) allows you to capture some beautiful movement 🌊
I was out hiking a few weeks ago and saw my first Juncos of the season. I'm looking forward to getting some shots of them in the snow this winter.
Yet another banger in your constant stream of bangers, Charlie.
It's #Caturday! This photo pretty much sums up Dennis' personality.

Great portrait, Linda! Very nicely done.

Sometimes they are black. Other times brown. If lucky, when the sun is shining, hues of indigo blue will ripple throughout the plumage. A Cormorant.

Not sure if my image qualifies for the #BlueSkyArtShow theme of #Vertical today but this gorgeous Long-eared Owl does have some #black feathers for #BirdOfTheDay !🦉 📷 🌿

Hope everyone has a good weekend 🕊️👋
