Explaining housing as a commodity in Canada to a J-friend and she was like, wait. People pay more for *used* houses? Even though they were already lived in? Is it extra expensive to build houses in Canada? Literally could not wrap her brain around the idea of house as pile of money to be sat upon.

I've been seeing a lot of pixel artists struggle with Bluesky's image compression, so I'd thought I'd share how to get clear, crisp pixels on the site!

When uploading to Bluesky, remember to resize your works to 800%! Why? Images are converted to .jpeg when uploaded. .jpeg compresses the image into 8x8 pixel blocks. If a block has more than one colour, that dreaded compression occurs!

In 2021, with freelance drying up and newfound tree time, I indulged myself in vintage gaming magazines scans available through the Gaming Alexandria and the Internet Archive. I was delighted by the outsidery, often acid house design sensibilities... While simultaneously repulsed by the rigid machismo and how utterly heteronormative they were. Having. wanted to start a gaming zine for quite a while (like, a decade) this began to feel Iike a problem I could solve. With longtime triend and design partner Jakub Tywoniuk, we got to work on FUNLAND. A publication exploring the outer edges of gaming. FUNLAND was a hit! Made three times what I put into it. The tougher resource was time. Jakub and I found more regular employment. After a long hiatus, Patreon announced all pages would be forced into their monthly model. I had to decide: Do I close the page (which continued to gain supporters even without updates) or do I attent something really, really stupid... In August of 2025, FUNLAND returned as a monthly gaming zine!! FUNLAND delivers previews, reviews, interviews, profiles, essays and scene reports across the wild gaming world. We've featured the likes of Christine Love (LADYKILLER IN A BIND), Ville Kallio (CRUELTY SQUAD), Derek Yu (SPELUNKY), Heather Flowers (EXTREME MEATPUNKS FOREVER), Bennett Foddy (GETTING OVER IT), Jenny Jiao Hsia (CONSUME ME), Naphtali Faulkner (UMURANGI GENERATION) and many more. With your support, by subscribing on our Patreon or purchasing issues on Itch.io, we can continue to get bigger and bolder. I especially want to revive those mock ads, those were a hoot.

Been working out of the Sequential Artist Workshop (SAW) while I'm in Gainesville, a really incredible community space/library/workspace for comic artists.

When we're not having workshops, we're a sstudio, library, gallery and event space. As a shared space we ask that everyone respect a few simple rules. - Respect the space and other people in it including our neighbors, GFAA. - Clean up after yourself and dispose of waste appropriately. - Do not move any furniture except the workshopping desks and chairs. - No alchohol or drugs of any kind. - Return library books to where you found them. - SAW has a no tolerance policy for any kind of harasment or discriminatory behavior. We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave. THANK YOU!" One wall of the SAW space. Wall covered in posters for 'zine fairs and random art. A small book case full of children's picture books is on the left side. A set of short wide drawers is on the right side, the sort used for holding maps, blueprints or other large documents. Wide shot of the SAW space, various work tables fill the central space. Colored lights are draped from the ceiling. Along the windows on the left side wall is a shelving unit with art supplies and a large lightbox/drafting table. i just started Tower Dungeon. the stonework in this is fascinating. it feels as though the stone built the landscape, the humans and other creatures are a secondary ecology. it has the spirit of Blame!, but the lens here renders it as much more surreal.

Good literary translation requires understanding (language, culture, genre--on both sides of the translation) and an ability to write well. "AI" can't do that. There are no shortcuts. Treat your work and foreign language readers with the respect they deserve. You won't fool anyone with this.

This year we had over 50k pumpkins submitted to Ghost Town Pumpkin Festival! Apparently over 9 terabytes of pumpkins were served to y'all!
