I'm not one for false optimism. But what I witnessed today in Minneapolis was tremendous, both in scale and exuberance. It was a stunning answer to the federal assault on Minnesota, a show of solidarity that gives us something to hold on to during times that are unforgiving.
“Everybody Showed Up”: Stunning Crowds at Minnesota Day of Strike and Shutdown Against ICE
Extreme cold didn't stop the shutdown on Friday as some 100 faith leaders were arrested, residents stayed home from work, and an estimated 50,000 or more marched through downtown Minneapolis.

If ICE truly were targeting "the worst of the worst" and not, you know, deliberately brutalizing innocent families with children, they'd rush to correct all the stories like this one, apologizing and insisting it's not what they're really doing.

They don't because this is deliberate. This is it.
The parents of a 7 year old, all of whom are in the process of applying for asylum, took their daughter to the ER when her nose wouldn't stop bleeding. ICE picked them up near the hospital and they are now in detention in Texas, presumably awaiting deportation. www.oregonlive.com/portland/202...

I'm calling bullshit on the media narrative that JD Vance tried to "soften" things in Minneapolis. He blamed the left for ICE violence and called the 5-year-old's father an "illegal alien" even though he's lawfully applying for asylum.

New piece from me:

Trump’s ICE Goons Detained a 5-Year-Old. Then JD Vance Made It Worse.
Much of the media is treating the vice president’s Minneapolis visit as an attempt to lower the temperature. If anything, he raised it.

Cynically, DeLauro issued blistering statements against ICE, then negotiated the ICE funding deal, then personally voted against it, then celebrated with Republicans after passage. She's 82, represents Yale, and has a primary challenger.

Thanks so much for voting to send Americans' hard-earned tax dollars to the agency that is currently in the streets of American cities terrorizing, kidnapping, assaulting and murdering us.

I'm sure everyone appreciates your investment in the fascist brute squad. Great work.
I’ll keep plugging away to make sure that Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars are being invested in an effective, durable, and responsible way.

This is on Jeffries and Democratic house leadership. People are being murdered. Small children are being snatched.

Am aware that with only Massie breaking GOP ranks it passes regardless. But on grounds of history and morality alone, you whip these seven weasels for a unanimous caucus.
The Democrats who voted FOR I.C.E. funding:

Henry Cuellar (Texas)
Vicente Gonzalez (Texas)
Laura Gillen (N.Y.)
Jared Golden (Maine)
Marie Glusenkamp Perez (Wash.)
Don Davis (N.C.)
Tom Suozzi (N.Y.)

These are conservative Ds anyway, and represent pinkish districts.
