One of the great ironies of the mainstream discourse over trans rights is the way the anti-trans side repeatedly gets basic biology wrong.

One aspect of FWS that has not been widely remarked on is the bald assertion by UKSC (para 178) that trans women can’t breastfeed. This is, of course, false. But this falsehood was part of the reasoning behind the claim that the Equality Act obviously has a trans-exclusionary understanding of sex.
This is very silly. Does anyone really think the phrase in question "Post Milk Generation" designates low milk (as the Supreme Court has decided)? Rather than people who don't want to drink milk?

I honestly can't blame a platform for being sick of having to scramble to implement age verification for the states and countries that pass these laws, often with little to no implementation period (SC just signed one with immediate effect!)

Discord is a member of Netchoice, the trade organization that's fighting these laws in the US, and they've shown up for pretty much every lawsuit since they joined. I can't say for certain[1] but I HIGHLY doubt they are doing this because they want to.

IE: the UK has mandatory age verification, the EU as a whole is in the process of implementing it, Australia has banned essentially all online interaction for under-16s, NZ is either trying to or has passed it, etc etc etc.

I'm personally involved with 95% of the lawsuits in the US over these laws and I have lost track of which states have age verification laws in effect and which are and aren't under injunction! And that's not even counting the countries that are doing the same.

While this absolutely sucks, we are going to see a lot more places implementing universal global age verification over this next year, because the number of states and countries legally requiring it has gotten to the point no one can keep up anymore.

Why do your organizing over Signal? So that you don't do your organizing on an app that hasn't been tested or reviewed, run by a guy who doesn't tell his users about data breaches and security problems.

StopICE Data Breach Sent Names And Locations of 100,000 Users to The US Government
StopICE, the anti-ICE activist platform, suffered a major security breach exposing names, logins, phone numbers and GPS locations of over 100,000 users to US federal agencies.

it's just that legal would tell you that it's a felony to do it, which it is, and even if it were not a felony it would not be worth doing because you'd be immediately caught on the egress traffic and be fucked for the full 4% of gross global revenues.

People swear blind iPhones do this because, as Rah says, they don't know what their iPhones *do* do.

You can't make billions of dollars without generating actual leakable evidence.
*sigh* here we go again. Your phone is not listening to everything around you 24/7 for advertising purposes. *If* you have voice activation on for the assistant, the mic is listening for the activation phrase: the processing power for listening for a single specific phrase is much lower.
Do you remember when people were saying "I think my phone is listening to me, i'm getting ads for stuff I spoke about" and people said "They arent listening to you, they're just this good at predicting your interests"?

Well, it happens they were doing exactly that.

If nothing else, the posts "AltNOAA" made today about Session/Signal contained *easily verifiable false statements*— for example "Session is based on the Signal protocol", not true, you can look it up on Wikipedia. To me "speaks with unequivocal certainty" + "spottable errors" ➡️ trust less in future

Specifically, they recommended today that people stay away from Signal and use "Session". There is a broad consensus Signal is the gold standard for encrypted messaging. "Session", I'm not qualified to say is good or bad but the professional response is… ambivalent, with some people raising concerns

I'm seeing a lot of calls to block/report any and all "Alt" accounts in the replies, but I think it's worth saying that AltNPS is BY FAR the worst, most harmful, and most dangerous "Alt" account.

The others are generally pretty harmless, and I don't want to unnecessarily lump them in with AltNPS.
Completely insane. AltNPS claimed to know the name of Alex Pretti's killer, refused to say it because "the truth always comes out," and then just deleted the post.

A man was executed on the street in my hometown, and AltNPS is using that as an excuse to vaguepost for attention.

For example the video yesterday of "ICE IS GASSING A DAY CARE RIGHT NOW!!" is the daycare right up the street from my house. I about shit my pants and raced out the door until I saw it was actually from Saturday. I already dealt with that daycare gassing, thank you. Please don't lie to me for likes
Definite uptick in Bluesky content aggregators taking legit clips regarding Minnesota from a few days or weeks ago and posting them without any sort of timestamp context, which gives the impression of them happening today, which then gets clicks. Be vigilant with what and how you share.

UK PEOPLE: this is REALLY IMPORTANT. If the government bans under-16s from using VPNs, then logically they must intend to REQUIRE AGE VERIFICATION FOR ALL VPN USE. Which will affect adults too!

The BBC is abjectly failing here.

They are so terrified of facts, so in love with reporting both sides that they cannot bring themselves to add the obvious: "Multiple videos of the shooting show the first description is accurate, while the second description is a lie."

For years, the @nytimes.com has baffled journalism watchdogs with its anti-trans coverage--markedly different from typical centrist media coverage of trans people. A former Times editor traces an ideological change in coverage to the 2022 changing of the guard at the paper.

They are trying to whip people into a frenzy, in the hopes that someone will do something violent, or we’ll riot, and give them an excuse. It’s not a coincidence that JD Vance is coming tomorrow. Again, every journalist on the ground knows this, but we’ll see if their editors will let them say it.
