Whether this was random street crime or targeted political violence, I think it was bad for the president to unnecessarily put the National Guard in harm’s way like this. They simply don’t need to be there.

We of course know nothing yet, but a general bit of context: crazy people doing crazy things at the WH perimeter, including attacking USSS and the like, does happen with some modest frequency, every few years or so. For obvious reasons it tends to attract some of the most deranged individuals.
