It's #FemaleFilmmakerFriday! To celebrate, I've decided to begin this year’s #DirectedByWomen thread (and my annual Indie Spirit blitz) with GHOSTLIGHT (2024) by Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson, nominated for Best Lead Performance (Keith Kupferer). #52FilmsByWomen #1 #Filmsky 🎬🎞️📽️

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

I can't believe I have to go back to having my senators on speed dial, but, because so many of my fellow citizens got played, here we are.

If I were @schumer.senate.gov, I would not agree to help Republicans fund this regime on the "promise" of an ACA vote at a later date. It didn't work the last time when they promised to fund DC. It won't work this time either. The House won't touch it.

the Democrats who are are considered by R's as possible “yes” votes for the deal.
Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Just FYI, the offices for Schiff and Padilla won't allow voicemail right now

Today’s pairing involves adaptations of Eric Ambler novels: JOURNEY INTO FEAR (1943) & THE MASK OF DIMITRIOS (1944). Unlike with the books, I think I prefer DIMITRIOS. Remember, kids, "The only risk you take is in not doing as you’re told." #NoirDoubleFeatures #Noirvember #5-6 #Filmsky 📽️

Up late, thinking about The Talk of the Town (1942). As one does.

LOL, I thought I'd see what the folks I follow on Letterboxd had said about the movie . . . 🧡 Well done, folks.

Continuing with Criterion’s Blackout Noir collection, the films in today’s pairing both involve mysteries that don’t make a lick of sense... but it’s not because of the booze: MURDER BY PROXY (aka BLACKOUT) (1954) & GUILTY BYSTANDER (1950) #NoirDoubleFeatures #Noirvember #3-4 #Filmsky 📽️

Today’s pairing is all about what people may have done under the influence and what they do or don’t remember about it. And, more importantly, what they're going to do about it: DEADLINE AT DAWN (1946) & FRAMED (1947)
Available at Criterion. #NoirDoubleFeatures #Noirvember #1-2 #Filmsky 📽️

As per usual, I'll be doing #NoirDoubleFeatures for the month. These will mostly be pulled from the 1940s since I'm bound and determined to finish up with that decade by the end of the year (for my Century+ project). I'll be starting with the films I haven't seen in this new Criterion collection.

PSA: HBO just put up a bunch of noirs, including must-see classics like MURDER, MY SWEET and OUT OF THE PAST as well as rarer ones I've had on my radar. These new listings are not showing up on Letterboxd as available at HBO but they are there if you go to the streamer.

Rewatched my final Carpenter assignment a bit earlier than usual since I’m heading out for tricks and treats soon. HALLOWEEN is certainly the scariest Carpenter and a fun rewatch during spooky season, but it’s not quite as interesting to me as ASSAULT or THE FOG. #FortnightOfFright #14

Well, folks, I've made it through John Carpenter's entire filmography. Tonight's selection was the much-reviled THE WARD. And you know what? I didn't hate it. It certainly held my attention all the way through, which is more than I can say for some other lesser Carpenters. #FortnightOfFright #13
