Neuropsychologist in training. Deeply strange person. Biracial and loud about it. Lover of horror, science, and music. Has lots of answers to questions you didn’t ask.

They made me a PhD in psychology. So I guess im

Do you all like supporting small artists for the holiday season? What if some of them are spooky?

Here’s some places I’ve bought stuff from this year.

🧵
Hiraeth (HEE-reyeth)
(n.)
- An intense longing for a home you can’t return to, or that never was.

Used in a sentence:
“And evermore, deep in his small and ancient brest, there stirred a sorrow sharp as winter wind—a hiraeth for the numinous lands of Faerie that slipt into legend many ages agone.”

Never forget that the new rules for what is “professional” has the same DNA as everything.

It’s meant to target lower SES people and people of color who make up the majority of nursing staffs.

It’s meant to punish a profession who stood up to trump and dumb immigration policies.

We’re all in agreement that conservatives are gonna release a redacted report and the democrats will release an unredacted report and both sides will be like “theirs is a lie!” And then we’ll all get distracted by the theater until the Midterms, right?

It’s wild to me that conservatives dumbed down education so much in this country that chapGPT is capable of answering highschool level questions in America.

Like it’s super stupid to use ChatGPT or google Ai for answers. But it also works too often.

I think it’s time we stopped over validating people who are good at computers.

Yes, some have math degrees. Most are wealthy because of their parents have they have a two year degree in a specific language.

It’s cool but it’s not impressive.
I think I was unprepared for the degree to which (some) techbros are scientifically illiterate

Thinking about Brianna Ghey while reading this article on screen time and bullying. Labour are using her name to push for a crackdown on phone use among teens.

But this research indicates increased screen time does *not* correlate with increased bullying for trans kids - unlike their cis peers.
Developmental Effects of Screen Time on Gender Diverse Student’s Experiences of Bullying Victimization
We used a large state-wide sample of adolescent students in 8th, 10th, and 12th grades (N = 58,689) to examine the predictive value of screen time on bullying victimization, as well as its interact...

The guy-brain stuff is wild and shows a deep misunderstanding of what a neuron is. And I’m glad people are pushing back in the literature.
The link between the gut #microbiome and autism is not backed by science, researchers say.

Okay. Look. Predator isn’t for everyone but I went to see this expecting bombastic monster killing (which does happen) but I also got cool lore and a story about chosen family and honor.

It was way more fun than I was expecting.

I haven’t been to the White House in decades. But when I see this my first thought is that “this is not where the Oval Office is, and they are just making a sign they can easily move to wherever he is”
You can't prove to me that's not three 8.5x11 sheets of paper taped to the wall
New sign outside the Oval Office..
