Slightly more on-topic for games discourse happening at present: honestly, tutorials are a difficult thing to handle, because everyone's boundaries for "that was a helpful reminder" versus "good god will you shut up" are different for every player. Someone will always be unhappy. (1/6)

I was explaining why GenAI is bad once, and I had to get real heated with someone who thought it'd be funny to put what I was saying into ChatGPT and post it back to me during the conversation. I was literally *right there*, if you didn't understand what I was saying you could have said so. (1/2)

It's funny that while The Game Awards are getting dragged for filth about Future Class they decide to conveniently release info about how they're streaming this year with Prime goodies and all that.

One of the things that gets me about cold call emails inviting me to call to learn more about a networking event or what have you is that it's so obvious when they say things like "you're dedicated to creating a community around your game dev journey" but don't name the co-op I co-founded. (1/2)

The number of times I've used programmer art, sketches, or even music from a game that inspired the game as placeholder assets is significantly higher than zero. That's really all it takes.
Nothing the slop machines can do that you can't do for yourself without contributing to water shorts.

If the visuals are THAT important to getting your project funded, then you need to pay a person up front for those key visuals and deliver a consistent end product to your backers.
