And yes, both situations are. Someone has already made a Lewinsky joke about Trump in reference to Clinton and I should not have to tell most people how nasty that is. Cut it out. Tell other people to cut it out. It's not funny. I know we're looking for a pressure valve, but this ain't it. (2/2)

You were following me for a bit already, but I recall reading something you said recently and going "huh, yeah, this feels like a follow back I missed *and* want to see more of".

And that's not me trying to be mean or spiteful, but this is also me looking at like *cough*Game Grumps*cough* and going "the game *did* explain it and you overlooked it either for memes or on purpose, and that's on you". (6/6)

So far as where I personally stand: my general design ethos is "show it to the player, give them a signifier with at least two cues, and a place to read it again later--if you skipped it then complain later, that may just be On You because I gave you all the tools". (5/6)

There are definitely things that we personally don't tell people when they play Shootlanzer, though, and that's been something we have been leaning more into just to see what people figure out when they FAFO--and people get by with only just a few mechanics. (4/6)

The current inspiration is to try a how-to-play that's a mix of both KOF's and other arcade games--the attract screens might have a more detailed explanation, but starting the game fresh on a credit just has a display of the buttons and text to accompany them before you go into Stage 1. (3/6)

It's honestly something we're still trying to sort out in Shootlanzer rn. Before pivoting toward arcades the tutorial was Saying A Lot, and as we've been going forward we've been trying to shave it down but not say so little that people have *no* idea what's going on. (2/6)

We literally saw this not even two weeks ago in I think Variety? Where someone somehow thought it was the funniest thing to interpret "they not like us" as "they don't like us" in a story about Kendrick, and not what it really means. Either out of ignorance or for a bad joke. It's agitating. (2/2)

They even tried to frame it as "but I did you a favor and spared you having to explain it to me again" when I called them on it. No. You didn't. You demonstrated that you thought it'd be either funny or reasonable to be a dickhead for no reason when an easier alternative was right there. (2/2)

It's not shit-talking if one just points out that it's hypocritical to talk about celebrating games and then abandon your DEI program for marginalized rising devs because you were challenged to do better, right?

Therefore, we have done Nothing Wrong by calling Geoff Keighley a hypocrite. 🤷🏿 (2/2)

I was worried about that the first time I said something publicly tbh. But, at this point, if people are going to get upset about me stating blunt facts about how his organization fails at its supposed goals, that's their problem, not mine. (1/2)

Knowing what I know about that crowd, it's a mix of never quite developing the challenge resilience to take losing to other people, bad formative experiences against other people, or a mix of both.
