do US liberals go into hibernation during democrat administrations or something. the ferguson protests happened under obama & last year under biden we saw police attacking student gaza protestors all the time
I know for a fact that citizens would not be getting tear gassed by ICE and DHS in Los Angeles in June 2025 if we elected the other viable candidate for president.

The biggest mistake I see in discussions of trans people's healthcare is the idea that hormones and the like are some special service just for us when really all kinds of people access the same health care for all kinds of reasons but they are *withheld* from us because we are trans

this is like worse case scenario for me and many other trans people on medicaid. i will likely not be able to access life saving care if this goes through. can't state it any more - they're trying to eliminate us from existing. please call your reps now
The House Republican reconciliation bill will now ban both surgeries and HRT prescription under Medicaid for all Americans.

Earlier, I posted that it wouldn’t affect HRT. This is incorrect.

I was mistaken, because the bill refers to medications for trans people… as “procedures.”

I don't know how to untie this gordian knot but America dismantled its tbh never very good education system 40 years ago, and in that time trillions of dollars has been spent on propaganda disguised as news to prey on the people who were never taught critical thinking skills and it ISN'T THEIR FAULT
Having access to trustworthy experts and being able to parse what is and isn’t misinformation or disinformation is a PRIVILEGE. Education is a PRIVILEGE.

People aren’t “stupid” because they can’t do this. And if you think you’ve never fallen for propaganda you’re lying to yourself.

“Every Illinoisan deserves dignity, privacy, and the freedom to live without fear of surveillance or discrimination”

I wish every Governor would stand up for their citizens the way Pritzker has.

There’s no reason RFK Jr needs a database of autistics. It would only be used for nefarious purposes
Gov. JB Pritzker signed an executive order that formally restricts the unauthorized collection of autism-related data by state agencies.

Pritzker’s order responds to federal efforts under Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to create databases of personal information for those with autism.

It’s is never too late to start wearing a mask again.

Cuts to public health, social services and escalating fascism mean it’s more important than ever to protect your own health and the health of your community.

It’s a simple, powerful and effective way to resist!

Things are tough. The news is dire & unrelenting. It’s easy to feel helpless.

Never forget that we can choose every day to be a positive force in the world.

Wear a mask. Donate to a mask bloc or give to mutual aid. Support your local library, community fridge or food bank.

Show up for one another

One of the wilder political things in recent history is that Project 2025 publicly released a 900 page document laying out their plans to roll back 100 years of human progress and then during the campaign Republicans just said "no we're not :)" and then they won and now they're doing it all.

the thing I hate most about that rfk quote is that autistic lives have value and worth and beauty and dignity whether they are able to do the things other people do or not. no one is defined by ability or lack thereof and to frame divergence as lack is monster stuff, utterly godless

Friends, I know you're excited to try protesting, but under no circumstances should you ever sign up to attend one. I'm suspicious of any org asking people to put their name on a list that is easily accessible via warrant or may even be public. You can just show up day of.

People need to realize the filibuster wasn’t meant to have a practical effect but to be a symbol and a rally point. Beating Thurmond’s record isn’t a hollow victory at all.
People keep saying Senator Booker's filibuster was meaningless and people who were moved by it are naive and gullible but I lived and organized in a south where this record stood and slavery and Jim Crow cast a long shadow and I tell you Booker taking that record means something.
In his 1957 filibuster, Strom Thurmond said "Negroes ... are not so well qualified to vote as are the white people.”

A Black senator just broke the record Thurmond set with that speech.
