There are many serious governments in the world.

The US is not one of them.

I deleted TikTok back when the Oracle purchase was announced but if you've still got it, you GOTTA dump it. Especially for trans folks. It straight up says in the new TOS that they--Oracle, the company that has active ties to the Trump admin--are monitoring and documenting trans and NB users.

Will the Times chicken out and settle or will he TACO and drop the suit before discovery?
Trump says he's adding his bad poll numbers to his lawsuit against the Times. Deeply embarrassing stuff.

Which is why Republicans want to destroy it.
This is infuriating. WPA-era art is one of the great cultural legacies of the 20th century and one of the most important artistic expressions of labor and working people in world history.
VOA's headquarters, 'the Sistine Chapel of the New Deal,' faces possible destruction as part of the Trump administration's drive for "maximum value for the federal real estate footprint." wapo.st/4a5NCsq

Repeat after me - the institutions of this economy depend on the institutions of this democracy, among which is the rule of law
Jack Smith: "My fear is that we have seen the rule of law function in our country for so long that many of us have come to take it for granted. The rule of law is not self-executing. It depends on our collective commitment to apply it."

Can the US build beautiful places again? As long as we remain car-dependent, no.
Why is the modern American built environment overwhelmingly ugly & soul-deadening? And should YIMBYs care? Our housing crisis is a nightmare for millions of Americans, but could it also, maybe, be a rare invitation to rebuild the way we live?

Beauty matters! I wrote about it here (gift link):
Can America build beautiful places again?
Ugliness has more to do with the housing crisis than you think.

I don't understand why there are so many attempts at creating humanoid robots when Star Wars has been offering the best template since 1977.

Republicans have told us for decades we need unlimited guns under the 2nd Amendment for days exactly like today.

But when today came, they called the unarmed woman murdered by an authoritarian government a terrorist instead of taking up arms against her killers.

Remember it.

Someone told me they prefer Grok because it doesn't have the annoying guardrails of the other systems. I struggled to keep a straight face as pretty much this came immediately to mind.
