I finally got to this, and I wish I had watched it sooner. @djrothkopf.bsky.social has two great guests, @taraemcg.bsky.social & @simonwdc.bsky.social who express far better than I the reasons behind the anguish, disappointment and anger I have felt over The Capitulation by Schumer. And then, hope.
The Senate Democrats messed up big time. @simonwdc.bsky.social and @taraemcg.bsky.social join @djrothkopf.bsky.social to examine the effects this blunder will have and how Democrats can regain lost momentum as soon as possible.

At this point we have to assume that if the Epstein files are released they will
- end the Trump Presidency
- implicate many other prominent Republicans
- destroy the careers of AG Bondi and his other defenders
This is beginning to feel like the greatest scandal in American history.
Trump has done enormous harm to the country.
He is a deeply corrupt and venal man.
He is wildly unpopular, his agenda more so. He's lost the consent of the governed.
He is old, infirm & clearly no longer mentally competent to run a nation.

It is time now to start talking about him moving on👇
Growing list of reasons Trump should step down:
- Cover up of his involvement in notorious sex trafficking ring
- Unprecedented corruption, self enrichment
- Tariffs are historic, unprecedented abuse of power
- Illegal desecration of most important global symbol of American democracy

Not only did key allies of the regime lose top races in New Jersey and Virginia, Americans rebuked his party in “local races – school board, city council, mayor, county – across the country,” as @simonwdc.bsky.social wrote. “Simply, Trump has been a terrible, terrible leader and people are pissed.”
new from @tusk81.bsky.social:

For months now, polling has been clear: "Americans have only been growing more and more outraged at Donald Trump’s disastrous agenda, including on immigration."

And last week’s elections drove that message home.
Voters Send Clear Message: Enough Is Enough
“Simply, Trump has been a terrible, terrible leader and people are pissed."

Dirty, despicable, disgusting, deranged Donald.
‘Dirty Donald’
It’s Thursday. There are 355 days until the midterm elections. Republicans are ready to finish off Obamacare, Trump’s cover-up (no, a different one) and the right is really, really gross.

Raskin: "The DOJ hasn't released any of these emails that mention Trump's name & identify his role in all these activities. Those came from the Epstein estate. So this is a demonstration the govt is deliberately withholding the info everybody is actually looking for & could be damaging to Trump"

Yes.
So “it turns out Spanberger took positions that strongly challenged Trump on immigration in ways that some Democrats have been reluctant to do.”

The @gregsargent.bsky.social analysis re VA’s gov race seems significant underscoring why Ds need to go on offense re Trump/Miller’s deportation regime.
This has gotten lost: Abigail Spanberger won big after vowing to RESCIND Glenn Youngkin's executive order directing local cooperation with ICE and voting AGAINST the anti-immigrant Laken Riley Act. Yet she gained bigly with working class.

People are starting to ask why Susan Collins thought a $500,000 payout to Republican senators was a good call when families are struggling.

Maine needed help, she delivered a payout to her friends instead.

If Trump wags the dog in Venezuela it is going to do enormous damage to his already degraded brand here in the US. Zero support for this in the public. Will be seen for what it is - transparent attempt to rescue his flailing Presidency.

Boy, if I were Donald Trump, I’d be pissed that my supposedly loyal Vice President has gone completely and totally silent on social media since these Epstein emails dropped. Vance always does this when it gets really bad—just disappears. Like Homer in the hedges.

Plus one on this take from the great @gregsargent.bsky.social.....
Some Dems and pundits overread the significance of Trump's win. They looked at dissatisfaction with the border and discerned a seismic cultural reaction to immigration levels inside the country. The former was real. The latter is a mirage.

NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:

- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

Powerful words from @robertgarcia.bsky.social.
"There is a lot more." Rep. Garcia shares the DOJ is hoarding files from federal Epstein investigations. "Photographs, possibly videos, they have information we need to actually bring justice to the survivors and to implicate the wealthy and powerful men that abused and raped children and women."
