I think one of the biggest mistakes we (the west) made was not spinning up Ukraine on tacair sooner.
After nearly 4 years of war, they would absolutely have a very capable conventional air capability if we devoted the energy early on.
My lesson learned: go big early in defense of Democracy.

Everything else in the other thread aside this is something the dems need to but probably won't address: explicitly repudiating this stuff in foundational documents when they're back in power
I think we have an unreasonable confidence in the belief that up-and coming officers, intelligence analysts etc. will know better than to take this kind of unhinged stuff seriously- especially when the environment for promotions and dismissals is so fraught and politicized.
