I sort of wish y'all took this more seriously, because this attitude is a reinforcement of heterosexuality as a hierarchy. It's an acknowledgement and understanding that it's not enough to "be with" a woman, or even to father children.

They define manhood as exploitation, abuse, and dominance.

Cognitive tests are generally not performed unless there are signs of decline. Trump has had three, and he thinks it was a hard test. In a normal family, Ivanka, Don Jr., and Eric would be fighting about who pays for the memory care.
Every part of this is bonkers. The intro is bonkers. The transition to his health is bonkers. The mention that other presidents didn't need cognitive exams is bonkers. The claim that this screening test is somehow hard is bonkers. The idea that criticism of him is treason is bonkers. All of it.

Raskin discusses this on our pod:

I sometimes contemplate the waste of human intellect caused by racism and sexism, and it is enormous. Even if you just start with the scientific revolution, the loss is incomprehensible. And this is still happening, every day.
Ever think about the sheer enormity of how much global racism costs and for what? The UK for example can barely maintain the same economic standard as a third tier US state and this is what they’re choosing to do?

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.

Like MTG and Elise Stefanik, conservative college women are surprised to discover that their conservative male peers don’t actually see them as equal. Harvard has been admitting women to the College since the 1970s. Women ruin everything, amirite?

The comments on this article make it abundantly clear how permissible misogyny is and how much men of all political stripes think that women’s views are less than theirs.
The one thing Kamala Harris absolutely does not want to talk about is whether she is thinking about running for president again. “It’s three years from nooooow,” she told us. She is busy selling books — a lot of them. She is not yet selling herself.
Read our full interview on what she plans next.
Kamala Harris Isn’t Ready to Be Written Off
She was seen for two decades as a future face of the Democratic Party. Is she now suddenly a figure of its past?

That’s the point. They don’t want a competent democratic government. They want kleptocratic autocracy.
New, from me: by embracing unitary executive theory, the Supreme Court is moving towards making all public employees fireable at the will of the President.

This will not just hurt government competence, it will aid democratic backsliding. 🧵

The role of misogyny in the modern Republican movement is seriously underplayed. It doesn’t help that many of the pundits put things like abortion, childcare, and workplace equality into a box called “women’s issues”, and then say that the party needs to focus on issues of “general interest”.

They revel in cruelty. These people are the worst among us.
They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

If you have home security cameras, mount them out of reach and have more than one coverage angle so sh*ts like this can’t move/cover/damage/hide from them in a dead spot.
ICE agent shoves a home security camera as she approaches a home. Masks aren't enough. They don't want you to have any record of their behavior. Even the tiniest threat of accountability is too much. Keep recording anyway.

I only occasionally interpret immigration matters, but I can definitively state that whatever you think immigration law looks like, it’s at least 8000 times more complicated and arbitrary than whatever you’re imagining
The average natural born US citizen, even one who is well-educated, has ZERO understanding of the history of immigration and citizenship law or the way that immigration and citizenship law is enforced today.

Plenty of people absolutely told you so, from the very beginning.
Ten years ago today, the Philadelphia Daily News did not mince words on its front page about the significant and tangible dangers that candidate Donald Trump, then almost six months into his first campaign for president, posed to our freedoms and our democracy.
