It behoves me to point out that desperate people, risking their lives, putting their safety into the hands of criminals, arriving on these shores with only what they can carry, searching for somewhere to live in peace and security, with no power whatsoever over their outcomes… are not our enemies.
Just wilful performative cruelty that is entirely out of step with the majority of British people.

How many Labour MPs got into politics in order to vote for stealing jewellery off of people seeking refuge from war and persecution?

Confiscating jewellery from survivors of a war zone makes you look like a fucking Nazi. And the obscene thing is, that is the intention. It's there to look appropriately harsh. Indecent. Filthy. A moral stain. And no-one of good character would have ever proposed such a thing in the first place.

Instead, we have the most grotesque details of the punishment approach. Forcing people fleeing a war zone into administrative limbo for two decades is obscene. It is the opposite of what you would do if you gave a damn about integration, or the dignity of refugees.

💯 this!
I came to this country as a child refugee. No English, no certainty, no idea what my life could become. Britain gave me refuge.

Not on a timer, not with conditions attached, but with a chance to grow roots.

An interesting NHS case re misconduct. The delay in raising misconduct concerns with an employee may make a dismissal unfair if the delay prevents them from properly defending themselves.

Robbie Gibb was appointed to the BBC Board by Boris Johnson, was an editorial advisor for GB News, and worked as Theresa May's Director of Comms.

He is not impartial or neutral. The government should remove him from the Board immediately to protect the BBC's independence.

The ITV News investigation into the illegal weight loss jab market is truly shocking.

This is clearly a huge problem that the regulator is not tackling. That is why I have written to the MHRA calling on them to crack down on this black market now.

I tend to agree with this. If AI works like its cheerleaders claim/hope it will - replacing whole swathes of human labour - then they need a real economic plan for dealing with the consequences of that. This can only mean heavily redistributing the profits.
you either need universal basic income for humans or you must limit the use of Gen AI in such a way that humans aren’t radically impoverished as a result.

you cannot have both, both for morality reasons and also because this is the kind of thing that can result in globally-nightmarish conflict.
This seems more like an argument for universal basic income than for limiting technology. (I think both are probably futile in the current political environment, but I’d prefer the latter.)
