I research racism in recruitment in the 18 acute trusts in London. It's clear that racism is baked into the system and has been for years (my data is from 2020). Trusts have done too little & Streeting's training won't help. See citou.com/research-and-resources for more information (new info soon).

Were suitable for appointment to a B5 role with that trust. The trust implemented a batch recruitment approach and within 12 months the offer rate went from c12% to >30%.

This % is sometimes ridiculously low, eg <1% of Black applicants offered. At the same time, these trusts are spending tens of millions on overseas recruitment to B5. 10 years ago I did a piece of research for a large, acute NHS trust which showed that 89.1% of all applicants 2/?

I research racism in recruitment in the 18 acute NHS trusts in London. Because of this I see the volumes of applicant, shortlisted and offered candidates for B5 RN roles in these trusts. Only a fraction (normally less than 15%) of applicants are offered a role. 1/2

Almost 10 years ago, I did research at a large acute trust, which showed that job applicants were significantly more likely to be offered B5 RN roles if they were young, white, and female. I wonder whether anything has changed?
