This is a very subtle form of burying the lede.

If you compare “10 percent” with “three-quarters” it sounds like you’re comparing 3/4/10.

Either compare 1/10 to 3/4. Or (much better) 10% to 75%

Start book clubs, do lean trainings, have ad-hoc discussions, build communities and talk about it.

It doesn't fix the problem but it invests in the long term solution.

Accessibility work has always been about the long-term, and I am certain that the long term of accessibility still is bright

Boston City Council is currently considering a resolution condemning KOSA and similarly misguided censorship legislation that would help the Trump admin suppress LGBTQ and human rights content.

How can @warren.senate.gov be so wildly out of touch with her constituents and MA civil society?

Me: we want to download db logs

Cloud provider: yeah we have some new AI tools to analyze logs

Me: we want to DOWNLOAD the logs so we can use our own tools

Cloud Provider: oh use the CLI to download an arbitrary file. I can send you docs.

Me: I don’t need docs. Why provide a db but not…

interesting/scary factoid -- the only reason the US is not in a recession right now is all the $$ being invested in AI, which amounts to perhaps $1 trillion-- or half of GDP growth in the first half of this year.

I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

It confuses me, but some people take other people's stated boundaries as a challenge to their entitlement instead of as a signpost with directions for smooth travels.

Still wondering about that spackle on Trump's hand and the permanent bruise and the weird MRIs?

Oh look, it's a treatment for early stage Alzheimer's requiring IV infusions every two weeks plus regular MRIs to make sure there's no bleeding in the brain as a side effect.

Roughly this time tomorrow I’ll be chatting with the folks at @scenius.bsky.social about all things Open Source, something I’ve dedicated >20 years of my life to and have *opinions* about.

I reckon it’s high time we made OSS an innately anti-fascist movement. Let’s talk about it!

Last week, ICE arrested and separated a father and son after a routine check-in. Six-year-old Yuanxin had just enrolled in the first grade at an elementary school in Astoria. Now he's in custody, alone. ICE won't say where. This cruelty serves no one. It must end.

Lower-income people are less likely to vote than higher-income people, across racial groups - and that gap has been growing.

That’s a real problem for the future of US democracy.

It’s not apathy or ignorance - for many, it’s a sense that politics is not for or about them.
