I get paid for engineering so I can lose money doing photography. Opinions probably aren't my own but I couldn't tell you precisely where I got them from. Grateful to hug my wife and kids every day.

The word "faithfully" in the phrase "faithfully execute" as in the actual job listing of the President of the United States, means according to the letter and the spirit of the law. This contradicts both and is yet another blatantly impeachable offense among many in the most unfit regime ever.
According to a new court filing, the Trump administration has a six-page list of banned words that Head Start locations are forbidden from using when describing their programs.
Among the censored words: "disability," "race," "women," "trauma," "Gulf of Mexico." Short thread with the full list. 🧵

Furthermore, if they were in whose army? Pretty sure we're only talking about The United States here, not the British colonies. There was no Constitution available to soldiers in George Washington's army so who gives a rat's ass? We live by modern laws not regressive racist wishful thinking.
If telling troops they must disobey unlawful orders is sedition, you’re gonna have to hang all the military academy instructors, boot camp drill instructors and training manual authors, along with every member of congress that authorized the UCMJ by voting yes on the most recent NDAA.

Also why should universities that have long since shifted their mission from education over to making students compete for the prestige of matriculating have any room to be upset by students finding novel ways to compete? Mechanize through grades, get eaten by the machine.
I'm going to float this nuclear take: maybe students are increasingly turning to ShitGPT and other deskilling devices because the structure of the modern university has made it impossible for them to acquire skill in a deep way.

Let me paint a picture for you.

The supersaturated sand on some of the lengthier beaches of the Oregon and Washington Coast can lead to them appearing to be enormous, narrow and shallow lakes fed by the distant waves and hanging mists.

Almost like the corruption is naked these days or something
Trump says Lisa Cook is unfit to be a Fed governor because she claimed two different properties as her primary residence on her mortgage applications. (Cook denies this.)

Trump did the exact same thing on mortgage applications submitted a mere 7 weeks apart.

This actress is so good at her role. The costume combined with the attitude and the lighting just looked like they needed to be like an early 90s psychedelic metal album cover.

Y'all the latest episode of the #Kilauea #eruption just went CRAZY. It looks like pressure built up enough to explode out the ground around the two existing vents (first few seconds), leading to a massive surge in lava fountaining.🌋🤯

I recently bought a new lens that produces exceptionally crisp images. Ironically I've been mostly using it for blurry, long exposure and shots lately.

This is a dancer from a local dance academy doing part of her routine during dress rehearsal for the Nutcracker ballet.

At this point, if your country gets selected to host the FIFA World Cup, the rest of the world should automatically assume your country is run by a corrupt regime of oligarchs.

Really love how this guy posted this on TikTok thinking the woman who broke his Meta glasses would come off as the villain, as opposed to him, the guy recording her without her consent for social media content via a surveillance device made by one of the worst companies on earth

Prison rape is wrong.

Jokes about prison rape are wrong.

Eliminating protections against prison rape is wrong.

If another country sentenced a criminal to be raped, we'd consider it a crime against humanity.

BUT

A large segment of Americans regard prison rape as a de facto part of the sentence.
BREAKING: Trump administration plans to end prison rape protections for trans & intersex people, memo says. A DOJ memo says certain standards under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) do not align with Trump’s Jan. 20 anti-trans executive order, @byadamrhodes.bsky.social reports.

Additional TL;DR: power is isolating

I think it gets harder and harder to step outside of your bubble which is one of many, many reasons why term limits aren't just good, they're necessary.

Spending too much time with power corrupts and isolation is just part of that process.
tl;dr: if TikTok is being manipulated at all, it's largely insignificant. Most of the phenomena being observed are much more easily attributable to organic opposition of US interest than pro-China influence. It's just that people who've never stepped outside their bubble can't tell the difference.

Exactly. There was that awkward moment during Bush 2.0's admin when they asked consumers to spend more money to improve shareholder value but that was at a time when people were able to put money into savings for once. That's not the case now.
Gen Z is spending more on essentials than previous generations, yet their wages aren't keeping up.

It's no wonder they aren't "spending like retailers need them to."

When 70% of the economy depends on consumer spending, people need money to spend. It's as simple as that.

Makes me wonder if banning social media and any app with addiction mechanics (infinite scroll, gambling, etc) isn't now a moral imperative rather than a silly corner case for censorship. Human physiology and cognition cannot keep up with technology exploiting them to sell ads and influence.
When I ask them: "What are you reading? What are you watching? What are you listening to?" Often, the answer is: nothing. Which has a direct effect on their over-use of prompts and AI, because they can't think of ideas, because they are literally not engaging with a single figurative thing.

ZOOTOPIA 2 is undeniably the best Disney Animation sequel to date. Bigger, sharper, and so darn funny. Nick and Judy got that 'Mulder and Scully' level of hot tension going on and I hate how I need them to kiss. Disney got me going feral on main now.
