If any #gamedev (pro or student) were curious about anything let me know and maybe I can do a post about it. I can try to answer just about anything that isn't covered by a partner NDA.
We're skinning our profile to A Fold Apart because now that I (mostly Steven posting these days) have some distance from it, I want to go back and explore it: the technology, the art, the design, and launching it on 7 platforms, in 15 languages, in #Unity3d. Follow along for #gamedev #indiedev

I want it for my coffee table 😂 I did not have Fangoria as a kid and this feels like a good way to go back and read up. Very exciting!

I usually bake my baguettes on unvarnished quarry tiles but I decided to give a baguette oven a go and it produces a different but very nice result. I will need to reduce my recipe a bit so they don’t swell to fill the whole thing next time. Crust was great.

They said they didn’t want to make one unless they had something really innovative, so I’ll be pretty excited if they found that new thing.
If Half-Life 3 does indeed get announced, what then?

If we do indeed find ourselves face to face with this white whale of video games, will we truly have succeeded? Or will it only pull us into the abyss?

Herein only madness reigns.

Baking bread and I wish I had taken a picture of my first batch. Yeast was dead (but still smelly 🤔) and made baguette-shaped yoga mats. I don’t have a good source for fresh yeast, so I bought quick rise dry yeast (first time ever!). That made blimps! Rise is great but I prefer fresh yeast flavour.

Unity would be very difficult to use without multi-scene editing – both at runtime and in editor. It helped us manage memory at runtime and it also helped different people to work on the same areas of the game without file conflicts.
So I've been spending a lot of time with Unreal Engine lately... I don't think a lot of devs appreciate how good unity has become at scene management... Like WOW

I keep going back to 10 years ago... And they have really nailed it now

I’m taking my first trip from the newly opened Confederation GO station in Stoney Creek to Union Station in Toronto, and after waiting on this station for years… I think we got ripped off. It is so inaccessible and poorly designed that I’m struggling to see how Metrolinx could have approved it ⬇️

One of the nice things about working with Evolve on A Fold Apart is that we could direct all key requests to them. 😜
Why this needs to be said EVERY launch cycle is beyond me, but here we are... time to educate!

If I politely tell you that I appreciate your interest, but that I simply don't have enough keys to issue one for every single request, and you choose to respond 'Fuck you and your game'... DON'T. 🔽

Homelessness will dramatically increase in Toronto over the winter, primarily because of provincial and federal funding cuts. Because of this, Toronto's Warming Centres will not be able to meet the need.

The reason they don’t is fear. Political pundits see centrists and progressives as safe targets for criticism. They get to pretend that they’re brave for “telling hard truths” while shying away from the most insidious elements in politics.
If Democrats have to answer for their most fringe members then Republicans should have to answer for theirs. The most out-there Democrat is 1/50th as psychotic and harmful as the most out-there Republican.
I don't think it helps the debate about what Democrats should do to pick an obscure thing that some Democrat somewhere may have said -- like on teaching eighth grade algebra -- and then attribute it to Democrats generally.

This was originally a team-building project for our Designer Kit, Art Director Stephanei, and Animator David. It turned out super cute. The interaction with the chat feels genuine (legit exciting to win people over), and it's satisfying to figure out all the endings. It's a little Halloween treat. 👻
Halloween has officially begun (at least in our timezone) and there is no better time for a spooky, point-and-click adventure, that you can finish all the endings in one sitting. Finish a Halloween game on Halloween! store.steampowered.com/app/1776080/...

This will be a long thread on yesterday police massacre in Rio.

In nothern Rio de Janeiro city, there is a couple of hills called Complexo da Penha. It's Comando Vermelho("Red Command", a drug gang), or CV, territory.

CV is the greatest gang in Rio, second in the whole Brazil.

Saw that artist Drew Struzan died. Framed prints of his special edition original trilogy Star Wars posters were the centrepiece of my childhood bedroom. I always thought it was neat that he signed things as just “drew”. It felt humble for such a big talent.
