Hello Bluesky! My name is Spencer and I’m a paleo nerd from the Midwest looking to connect with others who share my interests. You can expect posts from me about vertebrate paleontology, neurodiversity rights, and film criticism. I also write a dinosaur blog, here is my latest post.

Loud noises are one of my few sensory issues, blow away on those whistles!
There are people trying to stop others from using whistles, and next they'll say it's ableism.

As your disability advocate friend, I will be the first with serious sensory sensitivity to say that I would rather be in pain than someone get abducted, or shot.

Block/mute this argument, it's an op.

It’s no comfort, but the official DHS line being “he can be killed by masked agents of the state because he had a legal gun” is such an interesting new frontier in how Trump has made the conservative movement very publicly and embarrassingly abandon every principal it once claimed.

Also, the arctic vortex wandering south like this IS an indicator of climate change, as it is due to the destabilization of the jet stream and oceanic currents.
Yes, it’s cold across part of the United States today.

This does *not* mean the global-scale patterns of long-term warming linked to climate change are not happening.

The United States covers only 1.8% of the planet. And a few days is only 0.03% of the 30 years we average for climate statistics.

Elderly people often assume that I was named after Spencer Tracy. I wasn’t, but I do have a surprising amount of things in common with him aside from sharing a first name.

I keep seeing posts stating that ICE cannot enter your home or a private business without a judicial warrant. While that is legally correct, in reality ICE routinely violates the law by forcing their way in, often by smashing down doors, before violently assaulting people.

Trumpism is fascism.

I think back to when I was in my teens and see how dumb I was, then I look at adults over twice my age and see that they are as dumb as I was when I was in my teens. How did they stop growing as people half a century ago???

Having served in multiple countries run by ruthless dictators, I am accustomed to their tactics for keeping their populations under control. One of them is to employ a legion of fake opposition figures who promote the false narrative that "all parties are the same, so why bother voting?"

Citizens United is nothing more than a dark money pipeline that enabled deranged, greed and power diseased megalomaniacs to avoid fair taxation, purchase the government and steal all the representation from We the People.

I used to be a right winger, I don’t like admitting that, but it’s true. One of the many reasons I changed my mind was finding out what the reactionary right actually thinks about autistic people. I saw our current scapegoating coming ten years ago, they don’t want us to exist.

I was getting down from a three-step step ladder at a time when I was used to using a two-step step ladder. I missed the last step that wasn’t usually there and landed on my right foot weird, I was limping for days.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

Young Earth Creationism is pretty lame even if you acknowledge that it’s merely mythology. Paul Bunyan creating the Grand Canyon because he carelessly dragged his axe on the ground one day is a way more compelling story than it being formed by Noah’s flood.

Supporting an administration that seeks to deny me my right to live as a diagnosed openly autistic person isn’t a “different political view”, it’s an existential threat.

Everyone has a list of so-called "red flags" when they're dating. And for some, especially younger Americans, different political views is a relationship deal breaker.

I noticed whenever a show/movie decides to have these quiet, introspective moments like in Eternals, The Acolyte, or even Andor, that’s when people decide to call it “slow” or poorly written. It’s like no, you’ve just conditioned yourself to see action moments as the only valid thing.
