Trump is pushing hard for more oil drilling, but energy companies aren’t biting.

Given the high costs and difficult terrain in places like Alaska, oil companies don’t see a clear path to profit – and that matters to them more than climate change.

Industry leaders have objected to reversals of long-standing policies, and market forces are moving against the Trump administration’s hopes.

Wingdings maybe?

I didn't know Calibri was a “woke” font.

Maybe they should use Comic Sans?

That's about 65% of the problem total (and air travel is about 2%). We have many other things to fix too, like cement, landfills, agriculture, defirestatiin, refrigerants…

Oh my god
An absolute horrific nightmare of two AI bots caught in a loop with each other is the perfect example of the total nothingness of AI “brains”.

Our dog loves the snow on the lake behind our house. Minnesota life.

Uh, no. That never happened. Global temperatures are still going up.

A great starter pack for real-life climate scientists, who all generously give their time and expertise to serve the public good.

A great follow!
Starter Packs are one of my favourite features of @bsky.app. I’ve curated 20+ climate-themed packs on everything from health to comedy (all linked on my profile). But this one is special: my very first pack, the colleagues I personally turn to for insight + perspective, most of whom I know IRL.

Thanks, Katharine! Appreciate it!

bad: media coverage of climate in selected print outlets was lower than 2019 - 2024

lovely: it was still much higher than 2010 - 2019

@jorkussmellington.bsky.social On coffee (and really, I would say most other food-related questions OTHER than unchecked consumption of red meat, which the biggest single food-related source of emissions and unsustainable use of land/water resources), this post makes an excellent point!

As we approach the end of the year, I look at the state of EV sales for @climateconnections.bsky.social. They're a “highly recommended” climate solution by @projectdrawdown.bsky.social. Sales and policies in the USA are stagnating, but they're surging across much of the rest of the world. 🧵 [1/8]

EVs made up 25% of global car sales in 2025. In the U.S., they only made up 10%.

This is pretty cool.

I wonder how this might be used to do better climate work — e.g., for addressing emissions linked to buildings, and mapping infrastructure for climate adaptation work?

Sorry, but they're just a bad idea... even beyond the ridiculous energy use.

We can also solve most of agriculture's environmental footprint and land requirements through smarter diets, reducing food waste, and fixing terrible policies like corn ethanol.
