hard to maintain friendships with game developers because all these motherfuckers have ADHD and forget you exist when you're out of sight (it's me i'm these guys)

I'm 20 hours into my first playthrough of Elden Ring. I have no idea what I'm doing. I would sell my left kidney for some map markers. The most difficult boss I've fought is the camera. I'm loving it.

okay, update: i have had this question answered, and I am now looking to speak to game QA testers ON the record about the weirdest, silliest-sounding things they've had to do to make sure games work. the wackier the better. happy to keep folks anon if they prefer. DMs open, email/Signal in bio
would anyone who works in or adjacent to game testing/QA be willing to answer a couple questions for me? off the record, not to be quoted - just need some background info on automations to know whether a scenario someone described in a talk is common or unusual.

This this this. QA is essential, QA is the backbone, and QA is irreplaceable. They're some of greatest folks I've had the chance to meet and work with, and their humanity is an asset.
It figures that an industry that thinks that "vibe coding" is a reliable thing would now decide that QA is the next thing you can replace with AI 😒
Your friendly reminder that good QA people are worth their weight in gold and an invaluable part of game dev
