As far as I know, this is DHS's first effort to explain their position that I-205 forms allow entry into the home. They rely on the dicta in the 1960 Abel case (before Payton) and re-imagine the plurality opinion in Lucas as if it were the majority (and then overrely on it).

Todd Blanche: I don’t want the takeaway to be there is some massive civil rights investigation.

Bill Kristol: [it’s] when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a marginal tactical success into a major victory.

Listen up @cantwell.senate.gov - don’t give up on clawing back DHS and ICE $$
The killing of Alex Pretti and the grotesque lying was an overreach by the administration. They've paid a price and had to pull back a bit. But it's when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a marginal tactical success into a major victory.

At the end of the day, Madel said, "I have to look my daughters in the eye and tell them, ‘I believe I did what was right.’ And I am doing that today.”
Star Tribune: “Republican Chris Madel made a stunning exit from the Minnesota governor’s race on Jan. 26, saying he cannot support the national GOP’s ‘stated retribution on the citizens of our state, nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so.’”
Chris Madel ends GOP bid for governor, says he can’t support federal ‘retribution’ against Minnesota
His exit comes as some other Republicans have started to distance themselves from the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in the state.

Claw back the $$
Here's the graph split between ICE and CBP. As you can see, CBP has traditionally had far more funding. It got a much smaller increase, but still quite sizable. ICE on the other hand has been much smaller, and they are supercharging it.

Both of Nevada's senators--Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen--have officially come out against the DHS funding bill following the execution of Alex Pretti by ICE agents in Minneapolis this morning. This effectively ends the DHS funding bill in the Senate.

Trump is building an army loyal to him alone, and paying them up to $250k/year. If you can’t see ICE for what it is yet, then you’re not going to until it’s too late.
