The 2nd paper from my NPP postdoc is now available (open access) in GRL! HiRISE imaged a layered, steep-sided ridge in the glacial deposits near the Pavonis Mons volcano on Mars; we argue that it formed from volcano-ice (and volcano-water) interaction. agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/...

"Malort advent calendar" is already such an unhinged concept but every little window just having Malort in it really pushes it over the edge into something transcendently funny

"World's first potential trillionaire has killed 600,000 people, including 400,000 children" is the only headline that anyone should ever read about Elon Musk
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

Submitted my first ever faculty application! It would obviously be incredibly exciting if I get an interview, but I'm also just really glad to have gone through the process of assembling a teaching statement, etc. for the first time.

Off the top of my head, the cover of Sleep All Summer by the National and St. Vincent... this probably also doubles as a response to that "what is your most Millennial opinion" meme that was going around again a week or two ago.

It's literally a vital feature of both science and of representative democracy.

I've written a fair bit about trust in expertise as a vital mechanism in the collective epistemology of science.

Took a climber/rescuer course this week to qualify for upcoming work fixing a radiometer on an 80' tower. Excited for the project! Also so sore in muscles I haven't used since I climbed 4x/week that I can't tell if my current running injury is cured or just not yelling as loudly as everything else 😆

Life has been too busy for droidbuilding since early May but I've been lucky to spend all day today back on my BD project! Unfortunately today's job = repeatedly assembling & disassembling the same part in between rounds of soldering & crimping, rather than anything photogenic, but getting so close!
Assembly complete, now a sprint to get the electronics working together right…

It is a choice not to heed them.

Please let us meet this moment, let us see the shattered Temple around us, right now, and our responsibility to it.
