It should be entirely possible and affordable to deliver this. It could create loads of jobs, free up large swathes of existing network for local/regional rail and freight and end most internal flights.

Kent's fire and rescue authority is in chaos following the suspension of nine Reform councillors - the chair AND vice-chair have both been booted from the party.

Joint statement from Cllr Alister Brady and Cllr Vince Maple as Labour group co-leaders on the Kent and Medway Fire and Rescue Authority:
“It is clear now that the Reform UK chaos of the last few months is now spreading beyond KCC. “The decision to expel the Chair of Kent and Medway Fire Authority, along with the Vice-Chair gives Reform UK the dubious honour of the shortest ever length of time of a chair in the history of the organisation “It also means the Kent & Medway Fire & Rescue Service with its excellent reputation is being dragged into this mess. “This authority, which has historically run very much on a consensus basis, will now have its third different chair in just over six months - this is anything but business as usual, with more members or the committee being expelled along with the Vice Chair for the Audit and Governance Committee. “This undoubtedly poses more questions to be answered about the Reform UK political leadership of Kent County Council who would have selected these councillors before sacking them.”

This is how transphobia's right wing fuckery blew open basic respect in the UK, there is absolutely no reason to expect now that being "women critical" is not also a protected belief, if you truly do not believe that women should just be reproductive slaves for cis men.

This will be used to abuse.
