A republic, if you can keep it.
well, good to see they realized the "take shit off their website to avoid appearing in conflict with the electeds" was a fucking stupid move
Indivisible in an email tonight, starting project to primary Senate capitulators:
"At some point, you gotta either change your leaders’ minds or you gotta change your leaders. And the time for changing minds is over."

hey asshole how's that unanimous consent treating you
I got back to my office after the vote last night and recorded this. There's no way to sugarcoat what happened. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

just saying if one of the 8 folding Dems wants they can use this as an excuse to change their mind and not give Trump exactly what he wants
Buried inside the deal to reopen government is a provision that would give Senators private right of action to sue for millions in damages over their phone records being analyzed by Jack Smith's team.

This allows Trump (via DOJ) to use taxpayer money to bribe eight GOP Senators. It's that simple, there's no other way to describe it.
And where's the compensation for people injured by the Trump admin's unlawful conduct through DHS & DOGE?
Take a bow, @schumer.senate.gov, you did this.

Why is the "we must be united!" hectoring directed at people who are mad at the Cavers and not to the Cavers? Everyone who's mad was united, then the Cave Caucus walked across the aisle and betrayed what the public had been told was the Dem position.

Spending Bill Would Pave Way for Senators to Sue Over Phone Searches
Republicans have voiced outrage that Jack Smith looked at G.O.P. lawmakers’ phone records surrounding the Jan. 6 attack. Legislation to reopen the government would allow them to sue for $500,000 each.

Sen. Shaheen on her daughter opposing the deal that she brokered: "My daughter's very independent. That's why she's going to be such a great Congresswoman. And she knows a lot about the health care system, because she's been working in it for over 20 years." #NHpolitics #NH02
Improving health care has been the cause of my life. It’s why I am running for congress. So I cannot support this deal when Speaker Johnson refuses to even allow a vote to extend health care tax credits. My statement:

Hearing now that @chrismurphyct.bsky.social will allow the fast-tracking of the capitulation CR.
If any senator objects, the bill passage could be delayed until Friday. But apparently zero Senators have objected to the scheduling motion on the hotline.

He also urged Trump to “call us up as a militia" & "order us all to come together in our counties under his command."

Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".
But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.
