Dems doing better with Hispanics, Asians, young people could be big boost for them in the Sun Belt.
Evidence that the massive swing among young voters back to Dems that we saw in NY, VA, and NJ earlier this month is not limited to those states.

Take PA: from Eday '24 to Jan 20th, young new regisrants were +5R.

In the last month of this year's election they were +24D.

One small anti-doomer point: we just had election in state (VA) with GOP governor that not only produced Dem landslide but didn't have anything unusual happen re voting.

GOP cares most about immigration. Everyone else cares most about economy. Dems / Indies more worried about tariff / govt programs than GOP is.
Quite like this question about the issues people say they're looking at when evaluating Trump's presidency

Hi Mike Lawler! Hi Tom Kean Jr.!
He's supposed to be the treasury secretary for the whole country.

also...like, I bet Rs in purple seats in blue states really love to hear that the only solution the Rs have for inflation is for people to abandon their districts.

*Independents who voted for Trump in 2024* began term nearly unanimous in approving of his job handling... three in ten of them now disapprove

February: 94%
Apr-Mar: 81-89% range
Jun-Oct: 75-79%
Latest: 69%

That's a 25-point drop since initial reading — likely related to views on prices below

Trump rating at low point with many groups...

Age <30 (27% approve)
Hispanic (31%)
'24 non-voter (32%)
Non-college (42%)

+Men, White people, White non-college

Independents at low of 28%, with *strong* disapproval high of 56%

And Trump '24 voters down to 84% approval, due to independent drop

Our latest polling sees Trump's approval and economic ratings dip to new lows this term

40% approve of his overall job handling
36% approve of handling of economy
32% say national economy is good

On overall job rating, strong disapproval is 2x strong approval

New CBS poll has Trump as 60% disapprove vs. 40% approve

His handing of the economy and inflation has really taken a hit

Much of the election results this month could be explained by that alone

Sometimes politics isn’t that complicated

The Virginia Democrats flipped the last Republican-held seat in Loudoun County blue this year when they won #HD30.

John McAuliff was the one to do so, winning this Trump+1 district by two points. This makes him the most successful Virginian named McAuliff(e) this decade

Down in Virginia's #HD49, we saw a very close race in a Trump+8 district. That's where Republican Danville City Councilman Madison Whittle beat his fellow City Councilman Gary Miller by six points.

Miller ran even with Spanberger despite no outside help from the state Dems!

We might look for a lot of different motives, but MTG is following a very long line of Republicans who had some small power over Trump but choose to surrender that power rather than face a Trump-backed primary candidate (and whatever violent threats came along with that).

Trump carried Mills' district by 12 and in the current environment, easy to see Dems winning a special election.
JUST IN: The House Ethics Committee is launching an investigation into a stunning range of allegations against Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.).

The Marist poll out today (Dems +14 in the U.S. House vote) is a huge outlier, but there has been clear movement to the left over the last month. The Democrats are up 4.4 in our average of generic ballot polls today, vs D+2.8 in mid-October.

Gotta think that the odds of the GOP failing to pass a CR by Jan 31 because they can't stand each other keep going up. No prediction, but it's something to watch for at least.
Confirmed: Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) plans to move to censure Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) today.

Plan is to move to do it tonight as a "privileged" matter, meaning it can be brought to the floor for a vote without first going through a committee.

A shift that would help more in #TXSEN, maybe #NCSEN or #GAGOV than in #OHSEN or #IASEN....
In Virginia and New Jersey, Dems made disproportionate gains with Hispanic and Asian voters

But White working class has been pretty steady for GOP

Dems can win back House with gains like they saw in NJ/VA

But would need more movement with WWC to have a shot in Senate
