Ever wondered why #F1 drivers sit so close to each other on straights?

It’s basically the same energy as stalking a stranger in a windy Tesco car park to make your wonky trolley feel lighter. 🛒💨

The latest 'F1 Explained Badly' series tackles the Slipstream ...
F1 explained badly: Slipstream explained using supermarket trolleys
Slipstream is when you're pushing your wonky-wheeled trolley through the car park and someone in front of you is pushing theirs into a headwind, so you tuck in directly behind them like a parasite and suddenly your trolley feels weightless while they're doing all the work. Then you overtake them at the last second and get to the trolley bay first.

I keep thinking about the toxic, pervasive mythology of "rugged individualism" as a driving force in American culture, and how the collective efforts in the Twin Cities right now are proof that the only way through hard times is together, as a community.

I’m seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports.

And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: “No, I don’t have to show you any documentation.”

Because that’s how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.

Researchers are trying to collect & inform on hostile media/agitators that can be referenced during ICE escalations.

Tag with #hostilemedia & location identifiers. Ex:

We've started an example thread here (1/🧵)

America has tried to be a real multiracial democracy for just over 60 years and that attempt has been contested at every step along the way.

This lame grifter did this in Portland. He helicoptered in, got detained for an hour, then helicoptered out & raised like $130k off it while locals had a hard time raising anything for real charges.

Don't fall for it again in Minneapolis. Only donate to the community.
You know the First Amendment is dead when they arrest an American citizen dressed as a giraffe.

Jokes about Gen X and lead aside, I think the actual issue with Gen X and fascism is that there's always been an self-centered nihilism that doesn't see others as fully realized humans, masquerading as apathy, that was celebrated and allowed to metastasize all the way to being ok with secret police.

One thing we have to recon with as a nation is despite the law, what politicians say, what judges have ruled, and generational affirmations/revaltions—there has never been a moment in U.S. history where people left of center could practice politics or protest without being surveilled.
Today, in a message shared w me from a law-enforcement-only forum, a sheriff’s detective says he was tasked with monitoring OSINT ahead of an ICE protest and is crowdsourcing activist “groups and specific channels” to track from other cops nationwide

This is basically the logic conclusion to Graham v. Connor (1989). In which law enforcement actions can only be judge by other law enforcement. It’s why outside of extremely rare circumstances cops can get away with anything. On paper he isn’t “protected by absolute immunity”, but in practice he is.
