Is it time to end the tradition of passing out candy in a parade? The safety factor with kids running in the street (especially with little parental monitoring) always concerned me. But what put me over the edge are entitled kids AND parents going up to floats demanding candy. Call me Grinch. 😁

We knew winter would catch up to us eventually in the Midwest. It’s crazy that it will take almost the entire month before seasonal temperatures take hold. It’s also impressive the signal of change shows up in the forecast 2-3 weeks ahead.
A significant pattern change is becoming increasingly likely across much of the country during late November and early December.

Be sure to review Winter Weather Safety resources in advance of this pattern change at weather.gov/safety.

Continued dry weather/drought this fall in the Midwest should prompt gardeners to insure evergreen trees and shrubs are well watered heading into winter to avoid any winter kill damage. 🌱

The Republican president is a pedophile who has doubled my healthcare costs and let scores of violent criminals out of jail. But a Democratic mayor-elect wants to make busses free in a city I don't live in. I have never felt more politically homeless.

This event was critical in the decline of apple industry in Iowa which had been one of the top producing states in the country.
November 11th, 1940:
An Armistice Day storm raged across the Great Lakes Region and the Upper Midwest. A blizzard left 49 dead in Minnesota, and gales on Lake Michigan caused shipwrecks, resulting in another 59 deaths. Up to 17" of snow fell in Iowa.

So the Senate Democrat vote comes down to this, Fed employees likely missing a 3rd paycheck and SNAP recipients going without food vs health insurance rates going up hugely for some. It’s a NO-WIN situation made more challenging when you know people in each category.

Donald Trump’s approval rating has tanked and Republican suffered heavy losses in last week’s elections. There’s never been a better time for Senate Democrats to cave on the ACA extension.

"As they scoured well records & years of data, they zeroed in on a significant clue: The purges were occurring near wells where companies were injecting oil field wastewater at excessively high pressure, high enough to crack rock deep underground & allow the waste to travel uncontrolled for miles."
Oil regulators claim Oklahoma's wastewater incidents are under control.

But our reporting with @readfrontier.bsky.social shows the state is still dealing with dozens of instances of toxic waste spewing out of the ground, one of which killed about two dozen cows in Sept.

First birds (goldfinches) at the feeders which have been up for three weeks. This new neighborhood with homes still being built is an ecological desert. I’m impatient to turn it around but I’ll have to wait until spring to do so. Planted 50 native bare root plants and 200 bulbs. 🌱
