Realtors know that, in many parts of the country, if you educate people about climate risk, the housing market will collapse.

You know it is winter when the dark-eyed juncos show up. Oh yeah, and you get 10 inches of snow.

Interesting to see that even in a major snowstorm, we’re getting some solar production.

Storm total snowfall of 7 inches so far in Eldridge Iowa. Drifting is not as problematic as earlier. But it’s a snowman snow thus has compacted in the last 6 hours.

Around 5 inches of snow in Eldridge IA shortly before noon. About 3 inches in the low spots and 6 inches in higher spots, so a rough average looks reasonable. Drifting is making measurements less precise as is common around here.

My kids have whooping cough, there are no toys on the shelves, and my brother-in-law was deported despite being a US citizen. But at least I know there won't be black Santa Clauses this year.

From a display at the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis today. That last sentence is so applicable in today’s world since it seems the amount of wealth far exceeds the wisdom to manage it, for some at least.

Following the ongoing winter storm across the Upper Midwest, another storm system is forecast to impact parts of the Midwest and Great Lakes with wintry weather this weekend. Keep an eye on the forecast and check weather.gov for more information. ❄️

Is it time to end the tradition of passing out candy in a parade? The safety factor with kids running in the street (especially with little parental monitoring) always concerned me. But what put me over the edge are entitled kids AND parents going up to floats demanding candy. Call me Grinch. 😁

We knew winter would catch up to us eventually in the Midwest. It’s crazy that it will take almost the entire month before seasonal temperatures take hold. It’s also impressive the signal of change shows up in the forecast 2-3 weeks ahead.
A significant pattern change is becoming increasingly likely across much of the country during late November and early December.

Be sure to review Winter Weather Safety resources in advance of this pattern change at weather.gov/safety.

Continued dry weather/drought this fall in the Midwest should prompt gardeners to insure evergreen trees and shrubs are well watered heading into winter to avoid any winter kill damage. 🌱

So the Senate Democrat vote comes down to this, Fed employees likely missing a 3rd paycheck and SNAP recipients going without food vs health insurance rates going up hugely for some. It’s a NO-WIN situation made more challenging when you know people in each category.
