The billionaires, politicians, CEOs, etc can speak with carefully chosen words and act calm and peaceful because they outsource their violence to cops, the military, bureaucracy clerks, lawyers, insurance companies, etc.

Deeply disappointed to hear that the BBC has pushed out one of the most brilliant presenters in all of science communication for speaking with integrity and honor in support of human rights and dignity.
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

Yep, and that “people need to experience or at least fear punishment” concept comes from the christian ideology of about 1500 years ago.
anyway the reason most americans give for why they think people shouldn't have free healthcare is always that they think some people r just completely undeserving of any kindness bc we live in a punishment based society and they think punishing poor people will make them less poor

CVS is not offering COVID vaccines in 16 states that require CDC approval for pharmacists to give them—incl. my home state, MA.
I’m 66, w. other risk factors, & go back to the classroom next week.
If I get COVID, that will be an assault, perhaps a homicide, at RFK Jr’s, Trump’s, & the GOP’s hands.
