BP to scrap paid rest breaks and most bank holiday bonuses for forecourt staff.

Changes to employee benefits would cut take-home pay by at least 6.25%.

Would exec pay and dividends be cut? No chance.

Hard-won rights eroded as corporations rule without ever being elected.

Back to Victorian times.

It is so grotesque, isn't it? This money could be used for good. Instead it is squandered on vanity projects or, worse, used to perpetuate division, suffering and the destruction of the planet.
It would cost $30 billion to end homelessness in the USA.
Mark Zuckerberg’s gamble on the "Metaverse" has lost his company more than $77 billion.

@tgeuorg.bsky.social calls it.

As an academic I have been consistently saying this all along. The “Pathways” “study” is totally unethical.

And it won’t even address the main pretext used to justify it; the issue of long-term negative effects (of which there is no evidence whatsoever).
The UK puberty blocker trial is an ethical breach and a threat to trans youth’s health and rights - TGEU - Trans Europe and Central Asia
The recently announced PATHWAYS clinical trial protocol on puberty blockers (also known as puberty suppressing hormones) for young trans people in the UK represents a deeply troubling escalation in th...

Two shirtless guys in deep ocean, trying to stay “in the fight” against the U.S. military with its missiles? What a claim!

Isn't that the truth!! 👏👏👏
Unebelievably, I am older than Nige Fartrage. I grew up with Alf Garnet, Love Thy Neighbour and Bernard Manning, on TV almost every night.

At no point then – or since – have I made "jokes" about gassing Jews or that black people are unworthy (or worse).

He was – and is – misogynist and racist.

Reminding everyone again that there's no law of the universe that dictates that the endpoint of Trumpism is something as mild and tolerable as Orban under Hungary. Germany under Hitler and North Korea under the Kims offer other examples of how depraved personalist autocracies can become.
When I saw the story in passing I thought it was the same dumb bit as the army parade, the fig leaf of using Flag Day because it happens to also be his birthday. But no, Trump's birthday as such is now an official commemoration for NPS free admission days.

The only legal scholars I want to hear from in the years to come are the ones seriously thinking about how to fully disempower the Supreme Court. What would that take? THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX. Offer practical suggestions that could become political campaigns led by the public.

Ms Phillimore promised she would sue me for this tweet, and raised over £37,000 for that purpose, but more than three months on, I am still yet to receive a letter before action from her.

Obviously I stand by my tweet.
A barrister, Sarah Phillimore, led a campaign of harassment of a trans woman so wicked that she sought to take her own life. Jk Rowling saw the threat of regulatory sanction for that misconduct and offered to pay her legal costs.

That's where she now is.

I am hearing from multiple sources that the EU Commission is announcing its first DSA fine tomorrow against X on ad transparency, blue check & dark pattern, and researcher access to data.

The fine is in the "100s of millions of Euros."

NB: when he says "my view was divisive" he means "I got called out because my view is objectively wrong & wildly harmful to vulnerable people"

When he says "better evidence" he means "evidence that suits my prejudices". We already have good recent evidence from a major NHS review, which he ignores
Oops. Someone realising they said something rather unpopular is now desperately trying to change what they actually said

The Labour Party is literally in government right now. They have a clear majority and could legislate to ensure trans folks are treated according to their gender, and ensure equality law does not fix people to their sex assigned at birth. They actively choose not to — it’s institutional transphobia.
