"I don't know how to explain to you why you should care about other people." - Lauren Morrill

I'm going to start a thread, beginning today, of all the things President Trump says or does that I strongly disagree with.

Ongoing list, so I don't forget:
BREAKING

As expected, President Trump just signed an executive order withdrawing the United States from the World Health Organization.

The United States provides around 16% of WHO’s annual budget…over $200 million.
Phenomenal article grappling with the incontrovertible fact that humans like meat, and the absolute necessity that we find a different way to produce it.

The fact that this man has the complete support of his caucus is such an indictment of Senate Democrats. Nobody should, or will, take this advice.
Majority of the country now wants to abolish and/or dismantle ICE and yet Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. told the caucus the message had to be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

Once again it looks like Schumer is about to choke after getting a massive opportunity.

So pathetic and weak.
Senate Democrats plot strategy as DHS standoff deepens heading into shutdown week
Two sources who were on a Democratic caucus strategy call Sunday said Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told the group the message must be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

I keep hearing people crow that “only” 41% of this country supports ICE. ONLY? FORTY-ONE FUCKING PERCENT is still ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY MILLION MAGA SHITBAGS.

Fuck majorities, Anything over 5% is a disgrace that this country should never be allowed to live down. “Only,” my decrepit old ass.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

It would be incredible to imagine a world where international law applied equally to all nations.
If nothing else, pretty amazing Canadian PM Carney said the quiet part out loud today: international law has never been real and the ‘rules’ of the international order have never applied to the US and its allies.

This may indeed be the actual death of neoliberalism.

The US is collapsing into fascism and going to war with Europe and the opposition party is like “I’m here to talk about the important thing: how your average grocery bill has risen by two dollars over the last year, which I also have no plan or ability to fix”

Have to wonder what the Pope is thinking right now, as a divine miracle caused an entire nation to take the Lord's name in vain.

God says... Go Bears?

Gavin Newsom is precisely as slick and weasely as he appears, with no discernible moral compass.

The sooner he's officially dispatched from the 2028 contenders list, the better.
Fuck Gavin Newsom forever.
Ben Shapiro: "Israel did not commit a genocide in Gaza"
Gavin Newsom: "I agree with you."

Almost every owner is right-wing, but you sometimes get a glimpse of which ones pretend to care about their communities, and which ones are just happy to have money and power.
Owners of Minnesota's professional sports teams remain silent about Trump's war against Minnesota, as do leaders of their leagues:

NBA Timberwolves
WNBA Lynx
NFL Vikings
MLB Twins
NHL Wild

Minnesota’s corporate silence on ICE surge
Major companies in Minnesota have been largely mum on the immigration enforcement operation in the state.

That's a curiously specific figure for a fine. $0.10 per innocent person killed in Gaza?
Texans’ LB Azeez Al-Shaair was fined $11,593 for violating the NFL uniform and equipment rules for wearing anti-Israel eyeblack during last week’s Wild Card game that says “Stop the Genocide”

We've become an "I need to see your papers" country, and it's infuriating.

There's no reason for any of this, except that a segment of America is virulently white supremacist, and that segment currently holds power.
How much more in your face can it be?

"Why are you asking me for my paperwork?"
"Because of your accent."
"You have an accent too."
"Where were you born sir?"
"Where were you born at?"
"Put your hands behind your back."

There's absolutely no moral justification for this. Only what bad politicians perceive to be good politics by helping authoritarians.

We have two morally bankrupt parties and no legitimate alternative option.

Elected Dems imagine themselves sauntering back into power on the strength of being polite. Anything else would be uncivilized.
it makes complete sense, they don’t want to be an opposition party. they’ve told everyone this repeatedly, there’s not going to be any moment where they come around on this. Schumer was yucking it up with Rubio a day ago, they’re happy with this status quo
dem strategy makes no sense. voters don't like how chaotic trump is. media and dumb swing voters just convinced themselves he would be more normal in round 2. when dems downplay trump latest insanity, it cedes ground and creates the impression that what he is doing is within the realm of reason.

Absolutely spineless. At best, they stand for nothing, and at worst, they support the majority of the authoritarianism. Either way, indefensible.

Acts this heartless, by people this cruel, with no repercussions.

The president disparaging her memory and calling her a terrorist while her partner and child grieve.

There is no justice in this world. No karma. No greater force balancing the cosmic scales. Just the worst people being barbaric.

People, and specifically children, are going to die as our leaders continue unfixing a solved problem.
Many don't realize that the most vulnerable or immune compromised depend on the rest getting vaccinated properly to keep diseases from spreading out of control. It's not just “my body, my choice” when it comes to saving lives.

I genuinely have not laughed this hard in years.

If Rob Schneider ever made me laugh as much as the least funny roast in this thread, I don't remember it.
All right, I realize I’m starting to sort of repeat jokes so that’s a good time to call this to a close.

I’d like to thank the Friar’s Club for this wonderful opportunity. Good night and be kind to the wait staff!

Democrats should start explaining what they will do to ICE if they win in 2026 right now. Show these videos. Help people understand that ICE is not law enforcement.
If you are active on this site, you probably know how bad ICE is, but not everyone does.

CBS and Fox are both effectively state media at this point. The internal immune system is still fighting it at CBS, but ultimately the directive to protect the administration will outweigh any journalistic concerns.
1. BREAKING
