Labour MPs & party insiders tell me they’ve never seen Keir Starmer so angry as over Mandelson’s lies about Epstein links. But those who know him well say that anger has now turned inwards. That Starmer is, above all else, a man of public service, and will be grappling with his conscious this w/e.

But I was wrong and I confess that my judgment was warped by pragmatism. The politics of Trump taints us all. I'm not sure people appreciate quite what a blow to Starmer's government the acquittal of the Palestine Action protestors is. It both blows apart the whole proscription idea and demonstrates how out of touch they are.

It is, and I notice it didn’t require platoons of journalists and volunteers working day and night for years on end digging through a decade of old social media posts and YouTube videos to make it sound as scary and upsetting as possible. It’s just what everyone always kind of knew already.
