Im in my late 40s, and im just flashing back to every ‘justified’ regime change and invasion for decades, every ‘weapons of mass destruction’ lie, every ‘evil communists’ trope bought and sold by politicians, journalists and people, and all the incredible suffering that followed

The ultimate reason for all of this. The robber barons utilizing the US military to loot another country.
And there ya have it…

And now for today's good news ... a wonderful librarian now has a full time job getting people excited about books. All kinds of books. Even the diverse ones that the government doesn't want you to read.
OMG! Mychal did it. Anyone who first caught this wonderful human gaining an audience on TikTok knew there was something special happening. What an incredible journey and story. Promoting reading and libraries is so damn important right now, and I can't think of a better ambassador.

With the news of the Kennedy Center Honors, EVERYONE needs to make art. Make bad art. Make good art. Make art because fascism destroys it and tries to bend it to its will. Make art they can’t contain. Make it public. Make it loud. Make it rebellious. Write, paint, draw, dance, sing, sculpt

MAKE ART

Do we not have libraries filled thousands of Science Fiction stories that explain in great detail why this is a bad idea?

People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it.

They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory.

Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human.

Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.

Do you ever get a moment to sit and pause and realize you haven’t been really breathing for a really long time?

I took my youngest to the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum and sitting in their outdoor area, I felt like I was able to breathe for the first time in a long time.

#DanceMom victories: we got to the event comfortably ahead of call time, parking was stress free, we got our entire luggage haul (incl 5 costumes) into the hotel in one trip, and a room was available for early checkin.

What is even happening?

Every morning I wake up and read the news and just am overwhelmed by the stupidity of it.

I'm watching Sky News coverage of the Conclave and the newscasters were getting so impatient for the results of the first vote as it was getting later and later. As a cradle Catholic I find it such a funny collision of ancient tradition vs. instant gratification culture.
