As someone who was diagnosed because I was in a school system that paid their teachers enough to keep teachers that could identify the problem, had a father whose job it was to litigate for disability rights, and saw my school district become one of the best publics in the region because of it. 1/2
I have a kid with an IEP and my take on the "there are too many accomodations at elite colleges" thing is that the rich parents are the ones who can afford independent testing.

Today we mark the anniversary of the death of a real Fedaykin who was murdered by an unjust state for the cause of abolition.

if I was super rich I would simply buy a blimp and put a sensual picture of Alf on it, which is a perfectly normal rich person thing to do unlike the sick shit Elon Musk gets up to
today we saw the promotional Timothee Chalamet movie blimp in the skies of California

In the DoD publication Department of Defense Law of War Manual the example given of a clearly illegal order is firing on shipwrecked sailors. (Pg 1088 18.3.2.1 media.defense.gov/2023/Jul/31/...)
I simply do not believe, however much standards have deteriorated in specops, that admiral bradley was unaware of the implications of what he was doing and would have voluntarily done it without orders from hegseth

he chose this path and now he can choose if he goes down for it alone
If Admiral Bradley didn’t realize before that these cowards were setting him up to take the fall, he knows it now. Time to hire a good lawyer.

While this usually isn't the intent, "no one will ever be held accountable for this" doomerism is an excuse not to try.

There'll be at least some accountability if enough Americans work for it. And this time really is different. Doesn't guarantee the aftermath will be, but it increases the chances.

This is wonderful news, and also means it’s time for me to beat the drum I always do when HPV vaccines make the news:

They are not only for women! HPV also causes penile, anal, and head and neck cancers. The latter are particularly deadly. Please vaccinate ALL your children.
Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!
newsGP - Australia set for world-first cervical cancer elimination
Vaccination programs have played a key role, and GPs remain ‘instrumental’ in boosting screening rates to reach the 2035 target.

In case you missed this, the BBC edited a historian's speech about Trump to remove the claim that he's "the most openly corrupt president in US history." This came after Trump had threatened a $1 billion lawsuit.

Elite capitulation continues.

Read all about it here:

Trump Angrily Threatened to Sue BBC. Then Things Took a Darker Turn.
First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Short of a remaster of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, I don't think I've seen a program that I wanted 20 years ago more. I got ambitious and tried to use ArcGIS to do D&D maps/DM info tools. It went poorly.

@mightofmerchants.bsky.social is out there doing nice things.

Also people who like Star Trek more than Star Wars are wrong. That's just objective fact
anyway, this is obviously a personal preference thing, I'm not saying anyone who connects more with star trek than star wars is wrong

but the little kid in me imprinted on lightsabers and that's that

here's my thing with this:

it's objectively true, there is vastly more good star trek than star wars

but I still like the star wars universe as a sandbox more than star trek
You ever think about just how handily Star Trek has won the Star Wars/Star Trek war? Turns out making a lot of good content is really hard!
