In Central America, scientists found a spike in malaria cases after the fungus arrived. As frogs died, there were fewer tadpoles to eat mosquito larvae; more mosquitoes resulted in a fivefold increase in malaria cases: wapo.st/3LHtdAj (gift). We allow extinctions at our peril. 🌎

I had a nice visit to Sacramento and Colusa Wildlife Refuges on 11/11. In addition to seeing the getting famous eagle pair building their nest, I saw a lot of other birds. Here are some pics of some of the diversity of birds I saw. jonathaneisen.smugmug.com/Nature-Pics/... #birds
