My parents pulled the “hide the big gift” trick- they let me open everything else and not find it, then sent my dejected ass downstairs to get a trash bag for the wrapping paper. Then they slid it out from under the chair 1/2

Jurassic Park. I was 19, but that first big reveal still filled me with childlike glee. I still get some of that feeling anytime I watch it to this day.
The Matrix. Went in 100% cold, walked out with a blown mind.
Similarly, Strange Days, but I knew a little more about that one going in.

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.
