Yeah. I knew Batman was still raking it in but when I looked at the list and saw all the other bangers that were also playing in theaters at that same time, my jaw dropped. We didn't know how good we had it.

Yep, today we both learned.

I only ever heard it on Beavis & Butthead. I always thought it was just something made up by the writers, but I looked it up before posting to be sure and learned it has also seen use as a slur against gay men— so that might also not fly on TV today. But yeah, not in the same ballpark as the n-word.

Was she going for “fartknocker,” I wonder?

Not that fartknocker is much better, but if her mouth went on autopilot halfway through it to say what she said, it kind of implies that she uses the N-word frequently when the cameras aren’t rolling.

Regardless, stupid way to kill your career. Oh well.

Good review. The Hunt for Red October was a summer reading assignment in 1987 when I started high school, and I later devoured Red Storm Rising on my own and went on to have a full shelf of Clancy as he kept cranking them out. Still have ‘em all, too.

Strange Days (1995)

I still don’t understand how it was such a huge bomb that it nearly killed Kathryn Bigelow’s career— I walked out of that theater absolutely wowed. Glad to see more people discovering it in recent years.

@gallup.com, you craven cowards! Not reporting the numbers does not change the numbers, just ask this idiot how that worked out with COVID cases:

Think back to Nixon meddling with the Vietnam peace negotiations in 1968 to swing the election his way. Much the same way Reagan later interfered with the Iran hostage situation for his own electoral benefit. I hope they're both roasting in hell.

I'll vote for them, but I'm not giving them another fucking dime until it is earned. My previous donations yielded results in the range of "empty platitudes" to "strongly-worded letters," but nothing substantial.
