DHS funding ran out at midnight last night, triggering a partial government shutdown.

Republicans had a choice between supporting massively popular, desperately needed restrictions on ICE and Border Patrol or shutting down DHS. And they chose to shut down DHS. 🧵

ICE and Border Patrol do have huge reserves of funding due to Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, but Republicans have acknowledged that this shutdown will deplete those funds more quickly and possibly disrupt some ICE and CBP operations.
How did they run out of funds when they received 190 billion from the BBB?
