It's been really, really nice seeing the Catholic social justice tradition in the US feel like it's empowered to spread its wings again without risking censure after a long time of being suppressed by US Catholic leadership, and it's exactly what I was hoping for from Pope Bob.

I hope Garmin isn't feeding this dubious data into any sort of AI thingy. My legs were hamburger by the last half hour, so no way I'm suddenly doing 170.
Chart from my long run showing elevation in green and heart rate as a blue line. X axis is time, just over 2 hours. Black background and white grid info. I've drawn two pink arrows where the heart rate appears to jump from around 135 to 170 for the last half hour of the run (i.e. erroneously).

On this date, Matthew Shephard died 27 years ago. He was beaten, tortured, and left for dead on fence for being gay. Please keep him and his wonderful mother Judy in your thoughts. And let's all work for a world where such horrific things do not happen to anyone. ❤️🏳️‍🌈

Tired: Property rights are the cornerstone of liberty

Wired: We need guns to defend our property rights

Inspired: We are armed and demand access to your property

SCOTUS has announced it will review a Hawaii law that forbids gun owners from bringing firearms on private property without the property owner’s explicit permission.

If it falls, the court could make it harder for states and cities to keep guns out of everyday life. trib.al/lrF0Sqm
The Supreme Court Could Make It Easier to Bring a Gun Everywhere
The justices just took up a challenge to a Hawaii law that bars people from carrying guns on private property against the owner’s wishes.

He's been played many times. There was even a previous English version with Rowan Atkinson, though I probably got too attached to Bruno Cremer's quiet, self-assured version. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jules_M...

They've done that with other Continental shows - Wallander, Van der Valk, Professor T. Reach a new market, etc. I don't even mind speaking English, but they're *acting* English. Maigret isn't supposed to be a brooding/eplosive Pinter-esque dude.

Because everyone (i.e. me) is on 3 screens and can't read the subtitles.

The new Maigret on Masterpiece is . . . not French enough?

It's probably better that it's not right next to you and still not allowing you to connect.

With my luck I would accidentally print out an article to the label maker and use 200 feet of tape.

True, but also one tends to leave them in one spot once they're installed.

This comment is very discouraging considering the line of wireless lathes I've been developing.

Despite everything, Pilsen was full of joy today. What a beautiful day for the Chicago Marathon.

This would be GREAT paired with my article in doctors in the Klan in the 1920s.

New article out this month on how doctors become fascists.

50% of German physicians joined the Nazi Party––twice the proportion of any other profession. US doctors today are arguably the most conservative in the world, and we're heading along a similar path.

The problem is that other than all the power and responsibility, the Senate is already fully emeritus-coded.

We need a Senator Emeritus role where they still get to go to events and feel important but that gives them a graceful retirement route

I once accidentally told my Bulgarian friend in New York that I thought the Greeks invented yogurt, and she almost slugged me. Very fair-minded of you to use both!
