I say it all the time, but imma say it again: a lot of very book smart people lack the emotional education and communication skills that would allow them to generate the courage they want to embody in their work. They are incurious about their own emotional lives, and consequently, those of others.

So the implication he’s making is “don’t do something perfectly legal because we might indiscriminately kill you because we aren’t good at our job and are fine with that”

Colbert will be all right, maybe even better off. The world's his oyster and I'm sure MSNBC and Netflix will come calling. He could stand up the biggest late night YouTube channel in days. But they are just torching the Late Show, an institution, solely to appease a dictator. And that fucking sucks.

2) they are building concentration camps and concentration camps are the right words to use
3) they are banning books and book bans is a fine way to describe the myriad ways they are banning them

The act of writing is the act of thinking. You could, of course, interpose an AI generated thing at any point in the process, but it wouldn’t actually save you time. If you know what needs to be on the page, you will write it better than an AI. If you don’t, the only way to find out is the writing.

I had been calling this the argument against so-called AI from "craft", but it seems to be broader than that.

More accurately, AI people are against "process", as if process itself wasn't a critical part of the creative method.

On an individual level, people hear criticisms of Trump and they think "well i'm a Republican and I wouldn't do that" or "I'm a Republican and I don't believe that," and then bc they identify with him, they assume he's the same way and therefore his critics must be lying. bsky.app/profile/norm...
A lot of very frustrating American political behavior is explained by reasoning something like this: A pathologically mentally unbalanced moron surely could not receive a major party presidential nomination, let alone win, twice. Therefore if he seems like one, it must all be a clever act.
FUNDSTRAT tonight:

“.. in the last few days, we have had many conversations with macro fund managers. .. A few have quietly wondered if the President might be insane.”

Nobody white in the US is ever supposed to be grateful, though. No, they're just entitled to everything they have, and probably should have more.

I don't think so, because there's strong evidence most MAGA faithful don't actually believe much of what they say. Instead, they believe they're in on the con. It's less "I believe Trump's lies" and more "we must collectively lie, because that is our weapon in the war against liberals."
So I ask this partly because totalizing belief systems are often very brittle. It’s extremely hard to make a single crack, but once that first crack is made they often shatter completely with surprising speed.
I keep wondering if they’ll ever hit something so obviously preposterous that even their hopelessly brainwormed base will refuse to swallow it. You know, something like “Canada is the enemy now.”

There are genuine questions about who is carrying out all these sweeping illegal actions within the federal government. It's not Trump (golfing continuously) or Musk (posting continuously).

So it's a bunch of 20-something cybercriminals?
That's 9 tweets an hour (plus replies). This dude is allegedly running the world's 7th biggest company (by market cap) as well as like 6 other companies and completely overhauling the federal entire government. And high as a fucking kite the whole time.
Musk has tweeted more than 220 times in last 24 hrs.

That's not counting the replies.

We are doomed to relive every stupid thing about the 80s.

Only this it’s not just the mistakes of the 1980s corporate greed. It’s also the 1880s post reconstruction environment, and the 1780s love of slavery. :(

i am 100% of the belief that simply forcing take-writers to answer the question "who specifically said this and why are they significant" would result in substantially fewer bad takes circulating in the world

In other words, effectively 12 year olds LARPing as manly men
Repeating myself, but the idea of Trump & Musk as "masculine" remains bizarre. They're just the toxic and immature parts with none of the traditional "masculine" virtues. They're whiny, entitled, unreliable, dishonest, self-absorbed, never take responsibility, never put duty over self-interest, etc.
I mean, Jesus Christ, can you people even *hear* yourself?

I'm about to die of secondhand embarrassment just reading this crap.
