In other words, the liberal arts has provided an all-you-can-eat, buffet style approach to education while the “skills-based,” careerist approach that now seeks to replace it is more like being force-fed spoonfuls of tepid gruel.
This trend is giving me life. College is cool, knowledge is great. The liberal arts is rad. Being well rounded is the GOAT.

Fund all colleges and universities. We should be throwing money at them. Make it affordable for all. Let people take underwater basket weaving if they choose.

My loathing for Merrick Garland and the Democratic Establishment's timidity, fecklessness, and cowardice increases by the day.

The desire for restoration instead of transformation; the desire for civility over justice.

So many years wasted when there could have been bold accountability...

They will fold if you just stand up to them. They will hide under a table if the most weak coded Democrat just talks shit about them. All we need is some courage. The people of Minnesota have shown it. Just be fucking AmeriCANs and stand up to these assholes.

Bovino’s retirement needs to be a cage. His command environment yielded Renee Good’s death, Alex Pretti’s death & Julio Sosa-Celis’ shooting. Failure to prosecute Bovino & everyone else materially responsible for these atrocities will be understood by ICE, CBP, etc as a green light for the next ones

We have been told for nearly 30 years that America needed to tolerate mass shootings because the broad availability of guns would help us defend ourselves from an overreaching federal government. That day has come. The people who said this are supporting the federal agents. Many have joined them.

It's remarkable that Trump's claim that there are no constraints on his power other than his "own morality"--that he thinks he can govern as a dictator--proved to be a 1-day story, with no follow-up coverage in the New York Times, to whom he said this, or, as far as I can tell, any other newspaper.

American civil society is full of abject cowards, that is the issue. The government is a mafia state but it is winning because most American elite institutions are devoid of anything resembling integrity and are folding rather than stand on principles that were little more than marketing.

For 248 years the streets of America didn’t feature a roving masked federal kidnapping squad that might send you a Central American death camp or just murder you themselves, but getting rid of it now is some impossible lefty fantasy that professional Democrats lamentably must struggle against.
Classic Democratic no-win. All of them voted against the OBAA, which supercharged ICE funding and hiring. But they won't say they'd "abolish ICE" so they'll get yelled at (mostly by people who'll vote for them in the midterms after threatening not to).
Top Democrats decline to say if they would rein in ICE after Minnesota shooting

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

Perhaps now people will stop wishcasting about the US military refusing illegal orders. That's not a thing that happens. The 100% compliance rate with using civilian boats for target practice was a bit of a tell.

January 6 was like a much dumber version of Hitler’s Beer Hall Putsch and yet a plurality of American voters were like, Yeah, let’s give that guy the nuke codes again. An absolutely world historical debacle of societal ignorance. I’ll never understand it.

Well, at least the rest of the time the massive quantity of weapons in civilian hands is being used to prevent the tyrannical overreach of a domestic police state that detains and deports at will regardless of pretext or citizenship.

If you think the public at large is bad, you should come to my classroom sometime, I promise you it’s worse.
I encounter people who seem to have lost touch with the concept of being a physical presence in a three dimensional space. Their body being present in, say, a doorway, while they stare at their phone cannot occur to them. Everyone is now the only human who exists. Seems bad.
Can't remember if it was this bad before COVID but I'm seeing an alarming spreading of what I'll call Airport Behavior to other public places. Obliviousness to other people's existence, ineptitude at navigating the environment. "Is this your first time at the grocery store" type stuff

Whoa! Immigrants come here with nothing and the next thing you know they’re buying houses that established citizens cannot afford? Those enterprising newcomers sound like just the sort of folks we need. Never mind that JD’s premise is as BS as his 30M number.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

I live in Iowa. It has been this way in our state since 2017.
Trumpist rule consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: there must be a president and executive branch whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside its opponents and victims whom the law binds but does not protect.
