Have people really forgotten how bad it was? That they could deny you healthcare for pre-existing conditions? That babies born with « issues » had no healthcare? That people lost healthcare over diabetes or allergies or cancer? That we had to pay for mammograms? That birth control cost hundreds?

I get why it happens but goddamn do I wish anything could hit as hard on the timeline as something that sucks that everyone hates written by or about the worst person you know. I wish something good or interesting was able to get anywhere near the traction some shit that sucks does.

[P] At Thanksgiving dinner, I like turkey just fine, but what I love more is all the surroundings.
The plow, the steam engine, electricity — all replaced muscle. AI replaces cognition. If you spend your day “reading lots of stuff and turning it into straight English,” well… so does the machine. The goal now is to learn from history and cushion the blow better than last time.
