"What happens when an industry spends 15 years telling talented young journalists that personal brand is currency, that access is the game, that being a character in the story makes better content—and then acts shocked when someone takes that logic a few degrees too far?"
The Olivia Nuzzi Comeback Is Everything Wrong With Modern Media
Olivia Nuzzi’s comeback isn’t a personal scandal story—it’s proof that today’s media rewards access, personality, and controversy more than ethics.

If it takes more human effort to listen to your AI music than it takes you to produce it, why does it exist?
I genuinely don’t understand why anyone wants AI music. What’s the point of music with no human behind it? I don’t understand the appeal.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

You first, pal. Give up your family’s government health insurance.
Markwayne Mullin: "Reward people for being healthy. Think about this. Healthcare is the only industry that you're not rewarded for taking care of your responsibility. If you think about homeowners insurance, if you're within 500 feet of a fire hydrant, your insurance goes down."

Have people really forgotten how bad it was? That they could deny you healthcare for pre-existing conditions? That babies born with « issues » had no healthcare? That people lost healthcare over diabetes or allergies or cancer? That we had to pay for mammograms? That birth control cost hundreds?
"Punish people for being unhealthy. Born with genetic defects? Fuck you."

Of course, using Mullin's logic, anyone who comes down with COVID, measles, rubella, whooping cough etc. because they refused to get vaccinated had it coming, so...

I don't know why the "Piggy" thing is bothering me so much. It's one more unforgivable thing in a list of 20,000 unforgivable things, but I've been mad about it for like 12 straight hours.

The final game of the World Series was an eruption of joy and fun on here.
I get why it happens but goddamn do I wish anything could hit as hard on the timeline as something that sucks that everyone hates written by or about the worst person you know. I wish something good or interesting was able to get anywhere near the traction some shit that sucks does.

Trump shamelessly lies: "Go to Walmart and other companies, and in every case it's about 25% that a Thanksgiving meal and surroundings are 25% lower. That's big fact."

Strange how the people breathlessly offering this advice never seem to take it themselves.
The plow, the steam engine, electricity — all replaced muscle. AI replaces cognition. If you spend your day “reading lots of stuff and turning it into straight English,” well… so does the machine. The goal now is to learn from history and cushion the blow better than last time.
